I like Rob as a person and he's had some great moments as a coach. But he had 11 years to turn this team into a consistent power in the HL. We're not talking the Big East here, we're talking about a low to medium mid major league that we were outspending everyone else in. If 11 years wasn't long enough to make us a contender year after year, 12 or 15 wouldn't be either.
He's a good coach, he's just not consistently the right coach for our situation.
Still IF (note the word IF) Braun did undermine him as some are alleging, she should be fired too.

Allowing Braun to fire Jeter - only to then fire Braun - makes zero sense. THIS. IS. UWM!

Players used as pawns in what appears to be a personal vendetta of some sort is a damn shame. They quite literally didn't sign up for it, and certainly don't deserve it. Braun most certainly hasn't acquitted herself well, that is for certain. I will say what fans here who have cared about this program for many years carry a hell of a lot more weight than a hack like Jeff Potrykus or Gary D'Amato, who has probably spent as much time in Timbuktu as the Klotsche Center. D'Amato has written about 1/4 of the JS pieces on Panther basketball since Tom Enlund left. He's got weight. Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards

I wonder if allowing Chad to coach the guys in the CBI or CIT was ever considered or discussed.
My guess is that it wasn't.
What a shame!

This isn't about Rob. It is NOT about Rob! I'm Rob Jeter's biggest supporter - literally - and I have repeatedly said that Rob had at best one year left. This has very little to do with Rob. This has to do with the kids and the program. In supporting both, Braun has failed miserably. Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards

Just watched some footage on the WISN website, where a State Senator and UWM alumna expressed herself rather forcefully on the Jeter firing. Was this at the press conference announcing the firing this morning?
Amanda Braun did not express herself well, at least in the clip that WISN posted. Braun said "You're entitled to your feelings." Maybe she was caught off guard by having her decision challenged so directly, but is she utterly tone deaf that she doesn't realize how condescending that sounds?
Is that why Jeff Potrykus is alluding, on Twitter, to Lord Acton's famous dictum that power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely?
If she is that petty, she should follow Jeter out the door. If she was just surprised by the challenge, she needs to learn to compose her thoughts better before opening her mouth to speak.

I like the Senator, she has a good mind for issues and she's on the side of the common person but...
In this instance she is wrong in saying Jeter should have been retained because he's black. I think reasonable people can disagree on this firing but I don't think anyone connected to it in any way would say there is some racist agenda going on here or that Jeter should have been kept because of his skin color. I actually think Braun handled her comments okay, after all I doubt that she was expecting an attack like that.
Is Taylor a season ticket holder? Has anyone seen her at any games?

I can understand Lena's frustration; Rob has been very involved in the community as coach and losing an important ally can be painful.
I seriously wonder whether he'll end up on Gard's staff next year. Howard Moore got picked up instantaneously after all.

let me put it this way. Braun's job rides on getting the next coach right. if we dont see results, pretty much right right off the bat, Braun should be canned.

That's all we need is Lena "don't you know who I am" Taylor playing the race card.

Since my kids started high school and became involved in school activities I haven’t followed the team as much as I used to. But it always appeared that there was a love him or hate him relationship between Jeter and the UWM fan base.
Was an apparent love him or hate him relationship between the UWM fan base and Jeter caused in part by Haidet and Jeter? Immediately after his success with Pearl’s Sweet Sixteen team Jeter looked to do what many mid-major coaches do, cash in on the success. So he appeared to show an interest in and visited Iowa State to discuss their opening. He must have sensed Bud Haidet’s panic and leveraged the situation for a contract that became a burden to future UWM athletic directors.
Maybe Braun doesn’t know what she is doing. She obviously hasn’t handle this situation correctly. She has apparently made some other questionable hiring decisions, but has apparently made a good decision for women’s basketball. People closer to the situation will know whether or not Braun was limited by Haidet’s contract or if another contract was in place. Did the contract force this? Was she wanting to renegotiate the contract and Rob said no. Was firing Jeter her only course of action to put in place a new contract for the team’s coach?

Ok, it was handled very poorly but come on, he's had 11 years. There is no upside to keeping him unless you want more of the same - a good coach who will never have the worst team in the conference nor will he have the best. When Butler left the conference the door was wide open for another team to become dominant and UWM didn't seize this opportunity. If your cool with being in middle of the pack then keeping Jeter would make sense. Why waste another year of having him as a lame duck coach (which will hurt recruiting)?
You have to let Braun hire her guy and see what happens.
