Henschel, Fabiano, Kelderman, Rechlicz.........

i'm not surprised by this move. I liked Jeter on a personal level, having talked with him before games at the Arena. it will be tough, imo to find a coach that can turn 20 wins seasons to 25 win seasons, which is what is needed to make the dance.

I find it amusing people are shocked/disgusted that the AD wanted her own guy.

Not you, Fran. There are plenty of others I have in mind.

So when this new coach consistently wins 10-15 games, I wonder whether it will take 4 years or 5 years to replace him, or whether Braun sticks with him longer because he's Her Guy

I am not the long time die hard fan some of you are...have no history with the Bruce Pearl or Bo Ryan years so I haven't known anything else. I was certainly disappointed in this season. I would have loved to win a few more games. I can't help but feel for Jeter, though. You have to feel like he did his best last year, and we still won 20 games and beat some good teams this year. He recruited guys you could cheer for and be proud of, and it did feel like the program has been improving in some ways.
It feels a little like last year when the Brewers fired Roenicke. Almost everyone liked him, had done some good things, nothing really bad, but you knew change was coming. The difference there was that there was a clear plan bringing in a guy like Craig Counsell.
I am very, very skeptical of Braun hiring a replacement and instead of improving I could see us turning into a team like UIC or something...very mediocre with far less fan interest than we have had in recent years. Consitently being decent isn't the worst thing. Oh well, at least we know the reasons for the postseason stuff and can move forward. I hope for good things for Coach Jeter in the future, and I hope we can hang on to a decent amount of our returning players.

Disappointing to say the least...as I really liked Coach Jeter. Awesome man and you could shoot the crap with him at anytime(my favorite was postgame at Goolsbys over some beers). But, as Jimmy and everyone had told us this was either going to happen this year or next due to our great AD (sarcasm). It will probably be better for our program that it happened now, but let us all just hope Braun can hire someone with experience.
Good luck to coach wherever he gets a job!

Never a good feeling when somebody gets fired. Still, I think this is the right move for the program. I also hope it gives him the chance to succeed at a program with more support and resources at some point. He deserves it.

Howard Moore is available! If you win with him, you'd prove UIC's issues are more than just the coach...so could be good for me too

Hell, I may renew my season tickets! I hope you do. As I said a week ago, we have a lot of work to do to make sure the next guy succeeds. Step one is getting everyone back and supporting the new coach.

Good luck with that. My interest level just nosedived. If we make the wrong hire, it's gone.

Others would say 6 years overdue, so we will see.
