They seed teams in the NIT now (1 thru 8). Higher-seeded team usually hosts (unless there is a conflict at the higher-seeded team's facility).

I'm hoping that it won't come to this... but if for some reason we don't win the HL tourney and end up going to the NIT, how is it determined what teams get a home game? My wife worked at the MU ticket office, and she said they decide based on which team has the best facilities. If it's two big teams, then it's based on record and so on. It isn't very scientific, basically. But it sounds like UWM likely wouldn't host any games. By the way, she despised working for the ticket office during MU's NIT runs. UWM hosted in 2004, right?

We hosted the Rice Owls, blowing them out 91-63. We then were sent to Boise to face the Broncos and Colby Karl (son of George Karl) where we lost a close one 73-70.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Texas A&M. They are easily the most overrated team at this point in the season. If they can get a 4 seed and we are at a 13...that's easily our best road to the sweet 16. Oh and with Illinois at a 5 seed. I know thats a healthy stretch for the Illini, but maybe they can win the big 10 tourny. I want to avenge a previous sweet 16 loss to the Illini, plus we match up very well against both these teams.

I don't think there is any way Illinois gets that high (unless like you said they win B10T) but that would be our best option if we could get it. However I just can't see Illinois stringying together that many wins.

We were supposed to host BSU, but the available locations were used. I recall thinking we could use another arena, though I can't remember the specifics. I don't think the Cell, the Klotsche, the BC, and the brand shiny new AL were all in use. Had we beat the Broncos, we'd match up with Marquette, against all of Chairman Crean's attempts to dodge us.

Which was funny because that game wasn't even in Boise, it was in Nampa. I believe Boise had some conflict at its arena as well.

Bid "stealers?" i love the sense of entitlement that term implies.

I like how we're "stealing" a bid from Michigan, who actually have fewer wins vs the RPI top 50 than we do.

Speaking of Michigan, does anyone else feel like Harvard is getting slighted? Before they lost at Yale (which is a rivalry game) They only had 4 losses, and none of them bad. They also have wins against fellow bubble teams Colorado and @ Boston College. The reason I bring them up is that right now they are behind in their conference, which as we know does not play a conference tournament, and it is a very real possibility they won't get a second look on selection Sunday. I haven't heard one mention as Harvard being on the bubble or in the next 4 out or anything.
