And Lonnie? He's just a baller. Good things often happen when Lonnie is on the court. That he is. All bizz I like to say it.

The game's currently being re-broadcast on TWC 32. It's halftime.

Bill Johnson stated on his post game show that the clock started late on NI's inbound play with 2.4 seconds left. Who fell asleep at the switch? That just can't happen. In the timekeeper's defense, he likely didn't see Meier tip the ball (when the clock should've started) and started it when the UNI player scooped up the ball.

I'm sure that is exactly what happened, but I fail to see how that's an adequate defense. We're supposed to get a "good" clock at home, not the other way around. I would have been livid had they hit the shot to tie.

Even if the timekeeper sees a player touch the ball, he can't (or shouldn't) start the clock until signalled to do so by the official. Can you see the referee's signal in the replay?

And I'm sure Butler will agree we got a "good" clock against them at home a couple years ago.

How about this. The refs should never have stopped the game to add a few tenths back on. or. Maybe the would have gone back to look at it and call the game over like the refs did in the Butler/Xavier game last year, if you remember what happened there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZs1S5g69Sk&feature=related

To answer my own question ... No, the baseline referee handing the ball on the inbounds never dropped his arm when Meier tipped the ball. www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2L8O9kTVL8&feature=player_embeddedFast forward to 2:58 ... you'll see Meier tip the ball, but also see the refs hand still in the air once it gets past Meier.

Again, the timekeeper wasn't at fault Saturday. Look at the ref. Never dropped his arm until the ball was picked up at midcourt.

Finally had a chance to watch that youtube highlights clip. The winning shot by Tone came off a terrifically designed and executed play. Tony and Kaylon combined to give Tone a great screen up at the top that forced UNI to switch on Tone on his full throttle curl around the key, leaving their big kid to try to stay with him. Tone drove him towards the baseline and when he reversed his dribble the big kid couldn't recover in time to guard the shot. Outstanding execution.
I have said this before but Tone's speed is a tremendous weapon.
