Great game. Great show by Tone. The 1.6 seconds was changed to 2.4 seconds. The second half lacked offensive flow too many times. Don't want to look ahead, but the team will need to play more consistent offense to compete against Marquette. Fouls had an awful lot to do with that, for both teams. The first half was an extremely well-called game, but after halftime it was like the wind blew the whistles for the refs. Hill in particular got screwed three different times.

Follow-up to Hill's line:
Lonnie Boga: 10 points, 8 rebounds (3 offensive), 1 assist, 2 steals.

Super King- you mean that they HELPED us tonight, right? We shot 16-21 (76.2%) from the FT line tonight. Missed a couple key ones down the stretch, but the law of averages always has to kick in at some point.
If we could keep that (76.2%) up for the entire season, it would boost our chances of a 20-win sequel significantly. Butler shot 74% as a team last season, and as Fran or someone else mentioned in another thread, the NCAA D-I average is around 68%.
Free throws are a crucial part of winning. Especially when your game plan is to get to the line a lot.

Free throw shooting was fairly even. Don't know how you can say we were helped by the loose whistles when our best player fouled out unfairly with four minutes left in the game.

We were a perfect 7-7 on FT in the first half, only 64% in the second half...if we were more consistent, we would have won by 5 at least.
Also, in looking at the stats, great job by UWM in outrebounding UNI 40-29, with Boga and Ant getting 8 each, and Kaylon and Allen with 5 each...great job going after those balls!

Too much to say.
I'd like to begin a quick post by saying that a 2-point win over a Northern Iowa team that's as in-your-face on defense and amazingly efficient on offense as this one is similar to a 10-point win over run-and-gun teams like Niagara.
Based upon what I've seen to date of Ben Averkamp, Josh Gasser, Kyle Kelm, Chip Rank and Evan Richard, I would have happily imported the entire Wisconsin Swing AAU team intact, though I'm very pleased to get two of them. That is an incredibly mature bunch of players.
I know that Kyle won't have the most compelling line in the box score, but I really like what he brings to the team in terms of toughness and court awareness. He's just a smart, savvy, well-coached player.
What can you say about Lonnie Boga? He's this team's energizer, seemingly always where the basketball is. I don't worry too much about his scoring line either, as he brings so many other positive attributes to the team.
Prior to the last nine games of last season, the previous four editions of this team would not have rebounded to win this game after Anthony Hill, one of the team's two marquee players, was disqualified on fouls. Clearly, this team has learned how to make winning plays against a quality foe with the game on the line.
Finally, Tone Boyle stepped up like a fifth-year senior should and demonstrated what last year's team so sorely missed. That was a tough, clutch shot when he had to gather himself against a tenacious defender, get in balance and beat the clock. That's winning basketball.
That was the program's biggest non-conference victory in the post A.T./Joah/Boo/C-Hill Era, trumping the 2008 home victory over Bradley, also of the rugged Missouri Valley Conference.

I went to the Bucks game with an individual who may or may not have played at GB in the late 90s early 2000s, but we came back to watch the game on DVR but my friend who played D1 could not stop raving about Kelm. His exact quotes were give me Kelm and Gasser and give me 25 wins for there Junior and Senior year. I take his word over 99% of the people I talk to since he played D1 and he is in love with Kelm. I can't wait to see Kelm in person.

It wasn't officiating. At times the player out there looked lost. Players getting ready to set picks looking for teammates to cut one way, with the teammate cutting another way. For a team that had extra practices and four games in Italy, this shouldn't happen as often as it did. Hopefully things can be corrected this week. This cannot happen against MU, they are simply too good. The team needs to communicate better.

Simply put, that was as good a college basketball game as is likely to be played in Milwaukee this year. Outstanding effort by Milwaukee against a team that is as well coached as any we will see this year.
Just an outstanding opening game at home.

Outstanding effort by Milwaukee against a team that is as well coached as any we will see this year. Just an outstanding opening game at home. First I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed what was a very good basketball game. The team put in a lot of effort and hard work into this win. The players should be congratulated. I hope this is not as good a college basketball game as is likely to be played in Milwaukee this year. We blew a ten point lead at home. That is not outstanding basketball, very good, but not outstanding. MU will have a double digit win against us next Saturday if this team executes as it did today. I am hopeful that the coaches will make whatever adjustments are necessary.

Boyle's late shot lifts Milwaukee www.jsonline.com/sports/panthers/109575249.htmlThat was a beautiful win against a team that returns several important components from a Sweet 16 team from a year ago. Now go out and tell your friends about what should be a terrific showcase for the program in a special setting on Tuesday night. This victory and our own word of mouth should help generate a buzz and fill the Klotsche.

UNI is a terrific team, superbly coached. You knew they would make a run. We withstood it. Both teams made some mistakes, but both made more plays -- many more -- than they made mistakes. If you didn't think that was a great college basketball game, you have higher standards than I do.
And focusing just on Milwaukee, we did not play at that level at all before the turn of the calendar last season. Why worry about Marquette on a night like tonight? Enjoy the win, it was terrific. Next up, the Broncos. The Golden Eagles aren't even on the radar yet.

Will we be able to watch the game in its entirety on the horizon league network, like last year? I remember being able to watch the full game afterwards, but so far this year they just have highlights. Hope they'll put the full games on there soon

Great game, fun to watch. Many there had tickets with the Gold Pack plan. A game like that versus a sweet 16 team, will make people come back for more. Things can sure change in one week. 0-2 to 3 wins in a row.
