considering they won by 4 and gave up nearly 80 to a team that has one win and a 15 point negative point differential over the year I’d say playing at the campus helped the team to roll out with scrimmage intensity while Detroit brought the type of energy you’d expect in the playoffs. I’d hope going forward you’d relay the feedback I know you get from season ticket holders on the importance of playing downtown. It’s like a 5 to 10 minute drive not really going across town. As jimmy has stated before we need to grow the university footprint across the entire city. UW shorewood feels so apt when the university makes choices like this. Probably no one in the department that was even there during the shameful choice to go back to the kcenter full time. It's good entertainment that you think the whole athletic department, coaches and team are just idiots that don't know anything. Like seriously dude chill out, it's okay for people who actually make the decisions to have different opinions than a guy on a message board. It’s literally only cause it’s cheaper and easier for them. Settle down ad employee. Here’s the thing lots of us have been supporting this program longer than someone in the AD or the coaching staff. Maybe they should take our opinions to heart as history has shown playing at the kcenter is a trash option. This isn’t the Al that we are talking about it’s a subpar place to watch a game. 100 more students sitting on their hands doesn’t change that. Then again you’re a new employee it seems so you don’t get it.

If you don't believe us, go ask Pearl or Jeter about playing at the KC. Heck, Jordan & Baldwin will feel the same.

Lundy and the current players just haven't experienced it. That's why they think the K offers an advantage.
It's like when I moved out of the Midwest and realized weather didn't have to be cloudy and miserable for four months in the winter - because I didn't know any better.

All I'm saying is that until then (we are not at the point where we can come close to filling the arena right now), I have no problem with them choosing to play tournament games at the K. I'm against them playing there every game, but I'm not going to get up in arms when they choose to play there, I'll watch them anywhere.

I can't blame them for that though. Lundy is rebuilding a program right now and he's literally just choosing the place where he thinks gives them the best chance that specific day. If he chose the K full-time, I'm with you. Don't love that. However, Lundy strikes me as a guy who understands the history of this program and wants to build the program at the arena. He's said that multiple times. However, until then, I see no problem with them playing at the K a few times a year to try to get more students. I think playing on-campus is big for increasing interest in the team amongst students. Wish there was a better on-campus arena though.

How about just getting it back to what it looked like the season before moving back to the Klotsche full time in June of 2012?!

Green Bay game last weekend was a great step.

You keep saying that coach and the players know what's best for them. I'm saying they don't know what's possible at the arena, so they actually don't necessarily know best. The fact coach asked the players where they wanted to play the tournament game last year shows me that maybe he's not as well-versed on the history and the the environment that's possible in the arena. Two years in a row we've played what is arguably our most important home game of the year in the K. That's the start of a pattern. This year, it provided zero benefit to the team. You say that students will show up if the games are on campus. What have the student sections been like in the non-HLT games at the K? The vast majority of students don't even live on campus, and many commute from all over the metro area. Non-fan students will come (and hopefully be converted to fans) when the product is something that offers them more fun than any other possibilities they have. They're not going to come solely because it's convenient for them. 2,500+ students live in the dorms, right? It's a shorter walk to the K than to most classes on campus. Yet, only 1,500 people showed up for the game, and most were not students. By all means, play exhibition, non-D1 games or mid-season tournaments there. But HLT games? I'm going to disagree that those games should be played anywhere other than the arena.

It’s a clueless take to wanna play at the kcenter atleast the ad is owning that’s it’s a being cheap and not wanting to move their ops downtown thing finally.

I'm confident that when he and whoever else is in on the decisions feels the environment at the arena is the best choice, they'll choose to play there. I'm not really the guy to take up on that, was just sharing my opinion that Tuesday's choice to play on campus wasn't a bad one. Tuesday's environment at the arena would not have been anything to write home about.

There are multiple problem with athletics and the university in general. Athletics is terrible at marketing our program and fundraising. The university also doesn't put in the effort to market or support athletics. If athletics and the university shared the same passion and pride for the basketball team as the passionate fans who have been around for the glory years do, then we would be doing a lot better when it comes to attendance.
