Putting people like Lavin, Gillen and other guys with no ties to the area is just silly. These seem to be the top guys that come to mind automatically. I honestly think Majereus is a stretch, but because others have mentioned him so much he's included on the list.

I don't think the list needs to be any longer than Majerus, Tony Jones and Rob Jeter.

Pearl had no ties to the area. If the job does not go to Jones, then I assume we will be looking for a low-major coach or D2 to step up at UWM. Jeter I assume is our first target, as he was very high on the list 4 years ago.
Hopefully our next coach wont use UWM as a "stepping stone position." I would like to see someone here for at least 6-7 years. But that probably is not the reality of a Mid-Major.

Heck, if we can get a coach like Majerus here, I say do it!!! He lives in Milwaukee, so it could be a perfect fit!

I think Jeter and Jones are out. We'll go for someone with head coaching experience first and foremost, though Jeter wants this job. Only concern with Majeras is if he's hired, how long will he stay?

No way Jeter gets the job. No personality.

You would have to think that after the recognition they recieved at the end of this year, that UWM won't hire an inexperienced D1 coach. Hopefully Jack Bennet is out, that would piss me off. I wouldn't be suprised to see someone who has been in this business for a while
GO PANTHERS!
thank you bruce!

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pete Gillen's name in the running for it. Did a helluva job at Xavier.

I like Hunter a lot better than our in-house candidate.

The important thing for Bud now is to do something that maintains momentum. They had a great chance to take a significant step up in terms of ticket sales and he can't let that slip away. If he is convinced that someone with a name is the right choice, he should be willing to pay and alum who were willing to contribute to the Panther Fund to keep Pearl should be just as willing to contribute to help him do that.
My own opinion is, if Majerus wants it and Bud is convinced that he still has the competitive drive that made a fat guy with no skills a playground legend, then he should be the one. His face on ads for season tix would have great credibility around here.

Could Majerus at least be an interim coach for a year, giving UWM time to put together a good search -- and a great compensation package? It's not a good year in the UW to go looking, with bad news already about more years of the system falling behind in pay (look at what the assistant coaches are getting). And it's not a good time, with more bad news ahead while the politicians score points debating it this year. But the state budget is debated only every two years, so would next year without that be a better time to get another great coach with a lot more good years in him?
