I would like to see Diener in an assistant capacity. That would help out recruiting. Doubtful he would be given a look at the head coaching job.

I went to Riverside, and those two can coach, but I dont think they could jump from HS ball to College ball without some time.

no way we want a high school coach, that's a move in the wrong direction. we're at a level now where we don't need to take those kinds of risks.

the new coach would need to have some credibility in the players minds, so a H.S. coach would be a huge gamble that we won't be taking. Does anyone know of a situation where this has been done...I mean were talking about building on a team that just went to the sweet 16.

Two years ago during an interview at our Boise St game, GEORGE KARL said he would like to get into the NCAA coaching ranks and mentioned UWM since he was a) familiar with the city and b) assumed Pearl was leaving that season. The City of Milwaukee hates him, but at least it would extend our 15 minutes of fame. ;D The AP would eat that up.

Karl's rejuvinated an under-performing Denver team in the NBA, so no go there.

This would mean that George took so much off the Bucks that he doesn't need big time money.
I wonder if he could bring his kid with him?

you forgto one up on the poll list, "none of the above"
the reason i say that is i thik none of them are a good fit. Don't me wrong I have nothing agaisnt Tony, or anybody else on the list i just don't think that any of them are going to be the coach, but nor do I think that we will get Lavin or Gillen.
Majerus- great he lives in Milwaukee, big deal. if he felt that he wasn't ready to coach at USC what makes anyone think that he is ready to take over at a mid-major where is work load woul dbe more, and just don't think that he physically be able to do it, not that i have any inside info or anything liek that just personal opinion.
Jeter- i just don't like that idea right now. No personal reason i have never met the guy nor was i here while he was but there is just soemthing that screams no to me in this sitaution.
Bennett- just don't think it is a good idea, again nothing personal to him, he is and has been a great coach but i think htat we are at the point where we need to look to other D1 programs and assisntants or along those lines. No need to go back and dig around the D3 or D2 ranks IMO. (which for the person who brought up the idea of Diner coaching, wow you have seriously fallen off the rocker, bad idea just plan and simple, high school to D1 college basketball, not going to happen)
Jones- now i like tony as bruce's assistant and i would be willing to say that he will get the first option to take over, but i guess i just don't trust the idea yet of handing the program over to Tony. not that i have anything agaisnt him in any way, do not get me wrong, but i just am not sure if this is the right time for it.
We still need someone to coem in and promote the program but as well as build it up. Now do i have a name that i could throw out there and say here's the guy, no i don't but i think before we all rush into the idea of who we want to coach the team we might want to jsut take a moment and let it all simmer down, let things cool off a bit then lets see hoe things are going to go. thats all i am saying.

Yeah, I actually wanted to change the poll and ad "none of the above," but couldn't figure out how to do it (or if it's possible).
Jack Bennett would be a terrific fit....UWM should hire him. He would not use the job as a stepping stone and could keep the program playing on a very high level.

Even though everything I have heard and read says Bruce is gone to Tennessee...I still won't beleive it until I hear it on the press conference later this afternoon. I don't want to speculate about the future of the program until it is "offical." I still have a small glimmer of hope that a deal can be struck to keep him here...but then again I always was the optimist. I agree with Dutch (oddly enough ) that we need to just let this settle down and in first before jumping to thoughts of where we will be. Let the powers that be vet candidates and see what they come up with. Four years ago the powers that be came up with someone none of us had heard of before...maybe the same can happen again. GO PANTHERS!!!! Best of Luck to BP as he makes an incredibly difficult decision.

Good luck to Bruce. The Milwaukee media needs to let it be known that a very attractive financial package was put together to keep BP here. Local bigwigs including the head of M&I stepped up big time. I feel "good" knowing everything was done on UWM's end to keep BP here.

How about Bruce Weber?
Just Kidding!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
It would be nice to get another Bruce, so we don't have to modify the cheer too much.
Bruce (clap, clap.... clap) Joblonski... (I just made up a last name)
