I have heard from reliable sources that the 2 finalists for replacing Bruce are Rick Majerus and Mattt Doherty.......Jack Bennet declined for the position. I think Bennet would have been the ideal pick, WI boy and he would have shown the dedication that Bruce showed and then some. Although I think either Majerus or Doherty are good I am sticking with the big man. Rick is a genius and he is a winner. Doherty recruited the best frosh class in a long time, but it took Roy Williams to make them winners.
oh well enough about it
we'll wait and see i'm out

Hunter sounds like a good fit. -Big city school -took team to tourney after only 5 years at D1 level -plays uptempo style -has UWM ties -good relationship with community -record not spectacular but they made that jump to D1 recently -he had a hell of a lot more competition in Indiana as far other state schools. IU, Purdue, Butler, Valpo, Indiana State..i'm probably missing a couple (all toury teams at one time or another) - we compete with UW, MU, and UWGB I wonder if he is nomadic ?

Majerus and Doherty are big names... it will say a lot if we could land either of them.
Doherty going from UNC to UWM..sounds a little far fetched.

i would say that the top 2 canidates for the job right now are Hunter and Majerus.
the more that i think about it i really think that both would be great fits, for very different reasons of course. Hunter becasue of his style and Majerus becasue of his name.
I really think that the idea of Dorhety is a long shot and from what i ahve heard of what he did during his tenure at UNC i hope he stays the hell away from UWM. stick to annoucing and thats it Matt, or go back to ND.

Heard a rumor today that another list of finalists for the UWM Head Coaching job has been cast.
-Dean Smith -John Wooden (Hey if that Asst coach on Marquette can run around with a breathing machine why can't Wooden?) -Phil Jackson -John Thompson -Lenny Wilkens -Gheorge Muresan (sp?)
Personally I'd take either of the first two. Not a big Jackson fan. Hopefully Bud makes the right choice.

Really? For next year, it doesn't matter all that much...Tucker is right. We have 7 seniors who will all contribute and that in of itself is a coach. Plus, Joah will be the best player in Wisconsin at the college level and regardless who we play, he will step up. Any coach will be able to recognize that. Check out the JSonline article to see what Tuck all said. Right now I feel for these players and I have to believe that Tucker's confidence in himself and his team will lead us back to where we were this year.

"nomadic" - I think any coach that is still below 50 would become "nomadic" if offered the type of money Pearl was offered. (not to mention - better conference, facilities, staffing, exposure....and on and on and on)
Why is everyone soooooo nervous on this board. Perhaps Bo and Bruce have turned UWM into the next Tulsa. For years that school was turning out coaches (they finally hit bottom this year though). I think with the players coming back (as long as Joah's bigger than the program attitude doesn't get in the way) everyone should just relax.
Also, as for the true future of the program....beyond the 7 seniors....there are plenty of kids that will want to play at UWM now that the program is respectable.....BTW, don't be shocked if former King player Jackson-Wilson doesn't come back to UWM after next year if things aren't working for him at Ohio State. Hopefully, they will....but that's an example of the type of future "transfer backs" that UWM is capable of getting and winning with. More important than if there is another Bruce Pearl out there for UWM is "IS THERE ANOTHER JOAH TUCKER" out there for UWM? I think the answer to that is yes!!! ;D

Other names bounced around but not put on the list include: kurt rambis, chris ford, will perdue, darryl dawkins, dennis rodman, stephen a smith, pat summitt, tim hardaway, scotty bowman, cito gaston, bobby valentine (with a clause that stipulates Jose reyes must play PG), Marv Levy, and finally, BILL WALTON!!!!!!
I think Pat Summit could relate really well to our players. I think Joah, Chris, Boo, and AT would love to play for her.

I also hear that Lisa Leslie and Sheral Swoops have been considered along with others like Briant "Big Country" Reeves, Scottie Pippen, and the biggest supprise was the front runner JIMMY COLLINS!!!! (I saw Joah driving around campus in a new Lexus, it has to be true!)

bennet is out, get over it point guy, it is not going to happen
jeter, yeah not too likely, since there is no head coaching experience there
it seems from the list of ACTUAL names that are being whispered that the canadiate would have to have had D1 level head coaching experience, which is why it looks as though Hunter most likely is the lead man at the moment, and then followed by "Big Rick" (kinda liek that nickname by the way) or "The Rick" if you like.
NO BENNET NO JETER
