I'll be out in Vegas thursday and was looking forward to the reputation spread for RI and hammer Milwaukee. Gonna have to find something else I guess.

Ironically just this morning I was looking at last year's schedules/results and was reminded that there were a lot of games cancelled or postponed because of covid at this time of the year.
It seems like this year's non-conference schedule resulted in a very small sample size to truly get a handle on the Panthers this year. The sample size just got smaller.

Get on the horn, Bart!!! We need a game!!!! Watch out what you wish for. In November, when Pepperdine had to postpone it's game at GCU the day before it was originally scheduled, the announcement coincided with the news that GCU would host NAIA school Benedictine Mesa instead. Who would you want to play on three days notice? Cardinal Stritch again? MSOE again? Carroll? Concordia Mequon? Lakeland? I think we have all had enough of that. At first I thought it would have been preferable for UWM to state it will keep options open to see if another upper midwest school finds itself in the same situation this week to possibly schedule a game against them. However, we are coming up against the holidays and upcoming breaks for most programs. Plus, unlike last year, there are not nearly as many such opportunities. It was not likely something like that could be put together. Unless there is a week off in the conference season, I really do not want a non-conference game after this week. It will be time to focus on the conference season.

Mr. Borzello, see my previous post. As a self proclaimed college basketball pundit, you need to do your homework!

18 day break now between games. This worries me. How can anything be carried over from the previous games? Really hope we aren't rusty when we return to conference play.

Yeah, that’s where a game, even against a far inferior opponent, could help. I’m guessing all of the local Division 2/3 and NAIA teams have full schedules at this point, or at least want a break themselves. Just unfortunate timing.

Looks like the guys were working on their team building and karaoke skills at their Christmas party last night. It's nice to see a group of guys actually seem to enjoy each other unlike teams of the past.
The time off is definitely a bummer but I'm sure they are going hard in practice. Just keep stacking them.

Badgers are actively looking for a new game. Zero reason for Lundy to not give them a call and get something set up.

That was my first thought when I heard the news, but I'm not sure it's worth it at this point. Lundy said the team all went home yesterday after practice. Game would need to be Tuesday at the latest and you would need to get everyone back in town for at least one day of prep. That would leave just one day of prep before conference play. Would be good to knock the rust off, but seems tough to pull off logistically.

Too bad Panther players were sent home early. With a massive winter storm forecasted this week, this situation may have been reasonably foreseeable.
The only way I could see scheduling a game between Madison and Milwaukee would be to play it in January or February. IUPUI and Ohio State did that last January when both programs wanted to play make up games. I am not a fan of playing non-conference games once the conference season starts. But if Madison pays enough...
My guess is there will be other weather-related cancellations this week and Madison will find someone to play during a lull in it's Big 10 schedule. Or, Grambling will make it up instead.

Hopefully this conversation leads to us playing the Badgers yearly again.
