Tom Crean has made too much money to ever want to come here, that being said, would love the hire, but there's 0 chance.

Sounds to me like she's interested in Crean. Thoughts on Tan Tommy for five years at $500,000 a year? The program would lose me forever if they hired Crean. God, I hate that man. Yet our athletics director is so out of touch that you just never know.

Yes let’s hire a coach that is losing their job because they couldn’t coach and win games Whatever man, look at their ENTIRE careers. Don't just criticize these options, name your preferred candidates. Who??? Thank god these coaches had success 10 years ago and then failed at huge programs. I have given plenty of up and coming candidates that I would hire before any of them get an interview even.

I think that one of the first people I would call is Saul Phillips. He's currently 63-18 at Northern State (S.D.). Demonstrated track record of Division 1 head-coaching success AND a former UWM assistant.

I'll have Ben McCollum's contract next week. The open records request has been filed.
I have already heard directly from four candidates for the job. My number still gets passed around. One is a current D-I head coach, one is a recent D-I head coach and current high-major assistant, one is a major assistant and one is a mid-major assistant. I'd have taken literally any of those guys over Pat Baldwin in 2017.
You also have to assume that if I've heard from four candidates in a couple hours, there's got to be a far larger pool.

Steve Prohm would be my number 1 but probably our pedigree and salary level would not be competitive with other higher program suitors
Really like McCollum and the guy from Nicholls State. Saul would probably not want to work for Braun. Smart man....Jason Shay has high character and love his style of play . The thing is there he only has one year as Head Coach....Lamont Paris also on my top list.
Crean, NOOOOOOOOOOO....

As the head coach at Iowa State, Prohm had 3 losing seasons, a total conference record of 40-68, and had an overall record of 97-95. Prohm was fired by Iowa State at the conclusion of 2020-2021 season. The Big 12 has also been the toughest conference in all of D1 to get wins in over that time, so that should be taken into consideration with his record.

We really need to be aware of the modern D1 athletics scam that are the "Head Coaching search firms". They've turned into a corrupt cottage industry that rigs the process by giving the school nothing but failed HC's looking (and paying them for) another shot, or unqualified assistant coaches who are paying the same firm the school employs to find them their first D1 HC job.
This is why so many D1 assistant coaches who can afford to use them, despite having zero HC experience, so often get a relatively high paying D1 HC jobs as their first job (like Val and Baldwin) - often with lengthy contracts. All without any proven HC's ever being considered.

All without any proven HC's ever being considered. One of the coaches I talked to today literally mentioned Parker Search Firm and their ilk as something we should avoid. He even suggested that he thinks Braun would be able to do a better job if she had a search committee of faculty and student fans rather than a search firm. That person has crossed paths with AB before and doesn't dislike her.

We need to recognize both the expectations we have for our program, and balance that with how difficult of a job it will be for most HC's, including previously successful ones to get this program there given how far it's fallen. They will be starting from scratch. That is why a head coach like this guy, with a system like his, is exactly what our university and our MBB fanbase requires. This would be the same kind of unique hire who brings a quirky yet proven style and system, just like what endeared a coach like Pearl to all of us. Want to sell tickets, quickly, and start winning quickly with less risk than rolling the dice on a traditional coach? Hire based on a proven system, not a coach. BTW, from what I can see, he currently makes $272,000/yr, and his school might be the 12th Horizon League member soon. Grab him, before we are getting beat by him! youtu.be/T2T4bJh165g
