5 things to know about Eastern Kentucky
1. EKU was picked to finish 2nd in the conference by the coaches in their first season in the Atlantic Sun.
2. EKU lost their 2 best players but still return 7 contributors from last seasons team that finished 174th in Kenpom and won 20 games for the first time since 2015.
3. Ranked 4th in the country last season in press usage at 34% which led to the 7th best steal rate.
4. Eastern Kentucky was 13th in the country in scoring averaging just over 80 points per game. Much of this damage was behind the arc where they made just under 10 3s a game which put them 18th.
5. Braxton Beverley a transfer from NC State and Jamaru Brown were both on the preseason all conference team. (Jamaru Brown is suspended currently)

Just read the EKU preview in the Blue Ribbon Yearbook. They like to play the Pearl/Richardson style of basketball. Get ready for end-to-end, in-your-face action. The Colonels were 22-7 last year, but did lose their top two scorers to high-majors Georgetown and ... Auburn.

LOOKING AT THE COLONELS Eastern Kentucky is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history, setting a school record with 15 league victories over the course of a 22-7 campaign overall (while ranking as high as No. 12 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25). The Colonels were picked to finish second in the ASUN Conference preseason poll, with Braxton Beverly and Jomaru Brown chosen to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team by the league coaches. Fourth-year coach A.W. Hamilton has seen his squad break 18 program records since taking over and has the team off to a 2-0 start to begin the 2021-22 campaign, earning wins over Georgetown College and Ohio Valley - contests in which they have scored 93 and 103 points in. Six different players come into action Saturday averaging double-figures, led by Michael Moreno at 18.5 ppg, while also leading the way with 9.0 rebounds per contest. Cooper Robb and Brown are tied for second at 12.0 ppg.
SERIES HISTORY The two teams will be meeting for the first time in program history Saturday.

I like our chances tonight. Sounds like we will need to be ultra focused on ballhandling, passing to break their man2man/high-pressure D.

I am intrigued to see the student crowd this season. Will the PBJ hype lead to any students coming consistently? Anyways, looking forward to the game.
