We beat UIC, then take out Wright a state for the third time, and get a title game rematch with NKU.

This thread was improperly named. "Motor City Malaise" or "Motor City Sadness" are more fitting. Hopefully, this is the last year of it.

I will share that I like a neutral site tournament and I don't mind Detroit as site or LCA as a venue. My only real gripe is the format. If you are a hoops fan and want to watch your team play you are waiting until a week before to figure out when you are going to travel. Unless you want to spend 5 days in Detroit which is too much. To me this tournament needs to be Thursday to Sunday with the championship game starting no later than 2pm. Now any fan in the footprint could leave on Thursday morning and make it to Detroit for all of the games. You can stay for the entire weekend and still be in your own bed on Sunday night. It is two days off of work with 3 nights in a hotel. If you want to watch the whole tournament now you need 3 or 4 days off of work and 4 or 5 nights in a hotel. That is a big ask for the leagues fan base. For me I would love to stay and cheer against Milwaukee! However, GB will be long gone by the time you take the court on Sunday. As of right now I don't see anyone beating NKU.

Honestly, I do not see anyone that is "unbeatable" in this tourney. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

nobody is unbeatable this year. We beat Wright State twice, should have beaten Northern Kentucky at least once, and had a number of games slip away from us. we should have at least 3 or 4 more wins than we do.

The Panthers are 4-3 all time against UIC in tournament games.

Bacari Alexander could arguably be coaching his last game(s) this weekend although I think he’s got 5 years left on his contract.

I'm going with:
1st round: Cleveland State over Youngstown State Green Bay over Detroit
Quarterfinals: Northern Kentucky over Cleveland State Oakland over IUPUI Milwaukee over UIC Wright State over Green Bay
Semifinals: Northern Kentucky over Oakland Milwaukee over Wright State
Finals: Northern Kentucky over Milwaukee
I hope I'm wrong on the last part.

Unless you want to spend 5 days in Detroit which is too much. That depends on how much you like craft beer.

It looks and sounds embarrassing on television and makes the league look even more like a low major conference. This isn’t good for the league on several levels. Last year the league started adding add ons to game tickets like painting and yoga classes just to boost ticket sales. That was never needed under the old format.

And no one responsible for making this decision took these facts (which are no secret to anyone who has followed the HL for any length of time at all) into consideration? Or was the leadership simply engaging in a dream (which, supposedly, is what it’s all about)?
