Does baseball factor into this discussion? Loyola doesn't have a baseball team correct? Either does UMKC. Does this matter?

Lovell in regards to athletics is the Anti-Athletic Chancellor -- piss-poor decisions. Yes, but he does run The Hill with the basketball team.

Does baseball factor into this discussion? Loyola doesn't have a baseball team correct? Either does UMKC. Does this matter? It does in the sense that is an advantage for two schools named and a disadvantage for the two you named. Valpo has a good program - Tracy Woodson is a fantastic coach - and while their baseball "stadium" is the same as the Hank, they have a pretty great facility connected that houses locker rooms, offices, training rooms, and a batting cage. If there's one spot and baseball is a tipping point, UIC is going to get the nod. Not only does UIC have the best baseball stadium compared to us and Valpo, but they are building a significantly better one for about $8 million, which will be one of the most expensive college-only stadiums in the country. Curtis Granderson's donation and the partnership with MLB's RBI program is going to give UIC what will be the best HL stadium and what would be the best MVC stadium. The other part about the RBI program is that you're taking baseball to kids in the inner city of Chicago. If the city starts churning out Curtis Grandersons, those kids will likely have played youth ball at Granderson Field at UIC and will have a deep emotional connection to UIC because of it. The best Milwaukee can do here is at least get our facility up to standard. We've received a million-plus pledge from a donor - the donor wishes to remain anonymous for the time being so I will refrain from using their name here - for a baseball stadium, which will be a big boon for the program. But it has to get built. There needs to be a permanent stadium in place, and Miller Park is the "first alternative" if they couldn't build a home of their own. I'd expect about a $5 million project for a baseball stadium, around the freeway north of Capitol Avenue. There's space on either side of the freeway.

Like i said, we ain't going to the MVC, Fugghedaboudit !
The Cell is a nice facility, but UIC has just as nice a facility.
They have way better baseball facility
They have location
They have had an AD their for the last 16 years
They have a huge media market.
Not a chance in hell they would take Milwaukee over UIC.

As for Valpo, they got facilities,we don't,and the AD situation.
As for UMKC - they got a facility now,and are centrally located in the heart of the MVC, and a bigger media market than Milwaukee, and fertile recruiting area. They just got accepted into the WAC, which is way better than the Horizon !
Forget about the MVC ! Time to move on, we did it to ourselves

Hopefully the Horizon League will fill the gaps, but at the rate its being decimated, we could soon have a thread called "Milwaukee to the Summit?"

It ain't about records the past 7-8 seasons, it is about overall fit. If Milwaukee had its facilities in check, an athletic dept not so messed up, not so far away, bigger media market. So many things go against Milwaukee in this battle.
YSU even looking for a way out with Football, and than if Detroit gets to the A-10.
Than your talking Summit League or Horizon expansion with IUPUI, Oakland and some others or a merger of the Horizon leftovers with the Summit.
The ball was dropped awhile ago, only Lovell made it completely shatter, at least he can run at the panther prowl...Lovell the worst thing that could of happened to UWM athletics

The key is LeCrone needs to get off his ass and get into the game or our presidents need to can his ass and hire someone who can get the job done. Thanks, Big D. The addition of three new programs should have been revealed the day of the Horizon League tournament championship game at the latest. Now, it feels as if we're just twisting in the wind, waiting for the next league to come along and snatch another member or two.

They just got accepted into the WAC, which is way better than the Horizon ! have you been paying attention to realignment? under no circumstances is the WAC better than the Horizon League.

Adding Belmont, Murray State and Oakland would make the HL a respectable conference again, regardless of who ends up bolting for the MVC. I don't see them adding more than one team before next year, and my money would be on UIC for that.

Excellent sleuthing, Black Panther! Disappointing news -- hopefully we can keep a non-conference game with our great rival.
We're being left with the scraps. Glad to see Oakland is joining the conference.

2 years straight we have watched as our (formerly) great rivals moved on to much green pastures.
Meanwhile, we play in poor high school gym, with a mediocre at best coach under contract for 5 more years at a price we cant buy out, waiting another month for our 5th athletic director in as many years to show up.
And we're supposed to be optimistic? About what?!?
