Simply, the MVC sees non-conference -- and NCAA tournament -- performance as important. Certain Horizon League schools do not. FYI, the MVC championship game from St. Louis is played the Sunday before Selection Sunday. Ghost, the MVC Championship game was played ON Selection Sunday. It was right before the Wisconsin-Ohio State game. I watched it with my own eyes.

That was on Selection Sunday. The MVC Championship between Wichita St and Creighton was played on Sunday, March 10. scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=330690156Selection Sunday was the following weekend on March 17.

Yeah, you're right. My bad. No worries. Many of the games begin to run together this time of year.

A victory today will help.

A victory today will help. Sure helped. And, Wichita State isn't going anywhere.

Not to get off topic but seeing the George Mason, Butler, VCU, Wichita St. runs put a smile on my face because I know those fans appreciate it so much more then others but it also bums me out a bit because I wish we could have another shot to do something special like that.
I mean you pointed out yesterday Jimmy that we really aren't all that different then WSU and it wasn't long ago we were on par with Butler. Its a shame.

Everyone - everyone - is pissed off, disappointed and angry that the program is in the state it is in. No one - fans, players, coaches, administrators, alumni - is pleased with what this season was. Don't think for a second that anyone is complacent. There's work to be done.

This could be the end of the Horizon League as we know it. UWM might well be best interested in seeing which other conferences would potentially desire it before the whole league collapses.

We can only hope for better things to come.

Looking at the shape of each of the candidate's basketball programs, you would almost have to think it's going to be Valpo or Loyola that gets chosen to limit the damage of losing Creighton has done to the league. Unfortunately, really the only league that I see that would make any sense for teams like Milwaukee or Green Bay would probably be the Summit League if the HL were to dissolve (A-10 may come poking around for Detroit or CSU).
I find it fairly ironic that the two leagues that had multiple F4 runs outside the BCS conferences (CAA and HL) are falling apart the way they are, and frankly pretty sad.

Don't think for a second that anyone is complacent. This is where we differ strongly. I have seen with my own eyes complacency and acceptance throughout the athletic department for the last several years. Just because you are being told by these same people that they don't accept the status quo doesn't make it so. This is the real world: Your actions define you. And the actions of so many (no all, but many) in the athletic department at UWM make it abundantly clear that they either don't care, or have long accepted that this is just the way it is around here, and we cannot and will not ever rise above our current situation. So don't feed me or the others on this board a line of BS that "everyone" is upset and it's a all-hands-on-deck mentality. The only way things change is with Actual Change. Until I see that happening, I'll refuse to buy into any lip service coming from the department.
