I need somebody to explain the stability logic if he's only here a year. Maybe it was explained during the PC as I didn't watch it.

I don't believe it was explained. I don't think they're trying to pretend that he's going to be around for years to come. I gather he's here to "get our house in order", get the arena plans off the ground and raise money. I'm hoping stability is a byproduct of those things.

Makes some sense, JG. I'm still trying to figure out how this makes much sense ither than they need somebody credible to put in the chair while they find a long-term solution.

After hiring a men's soccer coach and before studying plans for a new arena, Andy must help with the long-overdue re-branding of a program whose image remains muddled and oft-misunderstood.

That's a good start, Dylan. Best reason I've read so far.

UW-Milwaukee is just taking the idea of the visiting professor to the next level... the visiting A.D.

GREAT MOVE. In the short term we get a steady hand to sort things out, participate in the overall University Master Plan and line-up a successor. It is obvious from his interviews already that the following is the plan:
*Recognize we are a mid-major and be the best we can be at that.
*No need for a Football thread anymore... It ain't happening!!!! that is fine. DEAD
* First priority and I love it...he specifically stated get a Baseball facility and an outdoor track. Fix this immediately. First short term priority which is great.
*Next priority - in the next year finally get a solid plan ready for an eventual convocation center on-campus which would also accomodate basketball. In the meantime continue to play downtown in the near term until the darn thing is finally built and it will be.
Very sensible approach. Once and for all define who we are . It is obvious we can be a great mid -major program without football which should finally have facilities for sports like track and baseball that are not totally embarassing. Keep Englemann for soccer. Build an on-campus arena and we are good to go. Be the best we can be within this defined niche. Totally happy with that.
With Lovell and Geiger I think we finally will get some sensible clear vision without all the goofy thrashing around. Hope Geiger stays around long enough for the facilities to first be built for track and baseball and then shortly thereafter construction begun on the convocation center. All is good!!!!l

Very well said kingsteve. I couldn't agree more with the agenda and the sentiment. I hope years from now we can all look back at this moment in time as a positive turning point.
Let's face it, the athletic department has been a rudderless ship for too many years. Despite that, we've still managed to field excellent teams in almost all sports participated in --- a testament to the student-athletes and coaches working hard every day to do things right. It's about time that Milwaukee starts to realize its full potential.

It's about time that Milwaukee starts to realize its full potential. That's going to be real tough with Green Bay's burgeoning program impeding our path. I mean Green Bay Basketball is Back after all...

I have been away for a few weeks but this is the best thing that could happen to us a guy that knows what needs to be done to run a winning program. I guess third time is a charm!!!

Did I read that Ohio State built a 4,450-seat baseball stadium for $4.7 million? Could we construct a 2,200-seat field for half the cost?
Heck, that's chump change for the Commissioner of Baseball.
