Can't believe nobody has mentioned Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as a potential AD candidate...

Another candidate I think that could be great for the job (although I’m not sure how attainable he would be) is:
Rick Schlesinger, the COO of the Brewers

If there is anybody who knows marketing, it's Schlesinger. The guy might be one of the top two or three at his job in MLB. But there is about zero chance he'd be interested in the UWM job.

If Schlesinger had interest in helping the Panthers, we'd play our baseball at Miller Park.

We should ask Ted Thompson. I mean, sure Nighthawk would never attend a game, but he's the best and he would surely come for our $200,000 pay scale. Great evidence: (1) He's been to Milwaukee, (2) he lives in the same city as a Horizon League Team, (3) we have to dream big, and (4) he knows sports.

We should also think outside the box and see if someone like Bill Clinton would be interested. Think about it: Slick Willy shaking hands and kissing babies and drumming up support for the program. I'll bet he could get the money for new arena raised in less than 6 months.

Lou,
I like the way you're going, but you need to dream big. Clinton and Bush Sr. raised so much together for humanitarian aid. I think we should offer the job to both of them and then watch the new football team win the Rose Bowl next year.
Too easy.

We need to have faith that Mike L will find a good replacement. He did the right thing with the audit and Rick leaving was also the right thing. He's just showing there is no tolerance for anything less than a clean, well run department and teams within it. He's the best chancellor we've had in a very long time and huge supporter and fan of panther athletics. He shares may of the same dreams for panther athletics as we do. I'm lucky to be able to talk to him occasionally and I'm quite sure he's very distraught about the situation and will work hard to find a good replacement. I think we still want to go nationally, but from my previous conversations with Mike, he's willing to consider both regional (think WI based, like UW-W) and national to find the right person (he was last time when he landed Rick). I think he focuses on the right skill set and mind set of the candidate more than the resume. Let's hope we get a winner this time.
