What the he'll is going on in athletics? How did this get to be such a mess? All I seem to do is shake my head at the revolving door our program has become.

With the departures in women's soccer, men's basketball is the fourth-most stable program we've got ... after track & field, cross country and volleyball.

The program needs somebody who knows something about branding and marketing, especially to students, future and current alumni, marketing on campus, demographics and such....
the 143 page paper is complete. Will be available to the public soon.

The real problem was how Costello, and possibly Kathy Litzau, handled the men's soccer coach's situation. They heard all of the problems from the team and decided not to act on them. This includes allegations of racism, verbal abuse, inappropriate reprimand, and preferential treatment toward foreign players. The worst part, and something that I've uncovered that hasn't been a part of that story (except on PantherU), is that this group of student-athletes did not come up with this originally. Andrew Wiedabach quit the team under similar circumstances in fall 2010, and DJ Alexander did as well in spring 2011. Wiedabach wouldn't comment on whether that was true or false because he's going to try and get back on the team now that Whalley is gone (what does that tell you), but DJ Alexander DID go on the record. Go to PantherU.com and watch the video on the front page to get a real breakdown on "why" this happened. There I talk about my discussion with DJ Alexander, who quit the team in Spring 2011 for the same reasons. We're also talking about it there: Link: Our forum topic

Well, another banner day in the athletic department. Now that Costello is gone, can we go back and offer Niklovic the women's head coaching position?!
Speaking of soccer, we're still without a men's head coach. I can only imagine how delayed this task will be now. Good grief...

David Nikolic should be the next head coach of our men's soccer program. End of story.

I love the thought of Plinske as well as he would appear to be the ideal candidate. But the question is, why the hell would he want to leave a crown jewel of a situation and come to a dysfunctional mess?
