No it says he MIGHT be interviewing in Atlanta, there's a difference. Doesn't say might. From the article One source said Monday night that Nebraska may have or is preparing to interview Colorado State's Tim Miles and Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Rob Jeter in Atlanta. I would take that has Jeter has already interviewed or will be interviewed, not might be interviewed.

Jeter has not interviewed with Nebraska for the coaching position.

Jeter has not interviewed with Nebraska for the coaching position. Is this source wrong? Or is Jeter preparing to interview with Nebraska?

Jeter has not interviewed with Nebraska for the coaching position. Is this source wrong? Or is Jeter preparing to interview with Nebraska? I was told a couple things. 1. Jeter was contacted by Nebraska and told they were interested in him. I'm told it's the kind of call that a few coaches get. 2. Jeter will need more than a normal sum to want to take the job. Yes he makes 450k, half of what Sadler made, but being three years away from a full state pension is powerful, especially considering that if he makes it to 20 years, half of that will be spent as our head coach, 9 years making 400-411k in base salary. 3. He is also apprehensive about leaving the Milwaukee area because Deanna is from Milwaukee, her whole family lives in the city. That isn't to say they wouldn't go, but the pot has to be sweeter than most coaches. 4. I think he may want it. Bo Ryan was talking him up, and that may just be talk, or it might not be. Who knows.

Jimmy, am I right to assume the pension is for total years of service, not consecutive? I doubt Bo is long for the job at UW as he's 64-years old. He'll hit Medicare his next birthday and has his nice state pension in the waiting. This would set up nicely for Jeter to get a big raise at Nebraska, have experience at a BCS school, and if he has any success, to replace Bo when he retires and continue earning time towards his pension.

Does anyone know what it would take to buy out Jeter's contract if Nebraska, or any other prospective employer, comes calling?
My understanding is that the department would be on the hook for the remaining years of his contract if they fired him. Is it the same situation if he gets hired away? i didn't get that impression from previous discussions (years ago, now), but i thought i read that it was written into his contract that if he took a position elsewhere, his new employer would have to pay a significant amount to UWM. The amount was raised significantly to discourage potential suitors.

if he gets offered the job, i don't think it'll be an offer like that...that's the money they're throwing at their A-list

So, we’re held hostage by a coach, because he has numerous years remaining on his contract, which was signed by a former athletic director who retired 3 years ago, and the athletic department can’t afford to buyout his contract. And now the coach might not want to leave UWM because he wants to stay a few more years in order to receive his pension benefits from the UW System?
Wow… We are between a rock and a hard place.

Blackandgold, nobody wants to be the bridesmaid in this situation, but nothing has changed in the past few days. Just cool the jets until we hear something new.

My jets are quite cool, thanks for your concern.
I merely noted an observation.

Boy, wouldn't it be terrible if a UWM coach turned down a high major job offer to stay at Milwaukee? Wow, I hope THAT never happens! What we need is a guy who can't wait to skip town at the first BCS offer. Yeah -- that's the ticket!

Yeah it's way better to have a coach sticking it out, knowing he cant be fired, waiting for his pension to fully vest before jumping ship to the first bigger pay day.

I can't believe a head coach is looking out for his best interest...the nerve!
