At what point would you say it is reasonable for Panther fans to expect our Coach to make a similar announcement concerning his future? As soon as all the other coaching openings that represent an improvement over his current position are filled. Hard to tell if you're joking or not? That's when I expect an announcement, but I don't think it would be unreasonable at all for a university and its boosters to expect a commitment from the head coach before all other possibilities are exhausted.

Hard to tell how much interest there really was with any of these, but Coach Jeter was at least supposed to have been part of a short list for these opportunities. He's becoming the Sherm Lewis of college basketball coaches.

Is there a minority interview criteria for college basketball, similar to the Rooney rule in the NFL?
I hesitate to bring race/ethnicity into the conversation, but I haven't seen anyone else mention it on this board and I think it's at least worth mentioning. I'm not saying the interest in Jeter isn't warranted from some of these BCS-type programs, but does anyone else think, that in some way, talking to/interviewing Jeter is partially PR motivated? Essentially interviewing a young African-American satisfies the PC police and makes for a good PR move.

There are enough other minorty coaches out there that Jeter's name does not need to come up for every job search east of the Mississippi. This is clearlyl him putting his name in for this open positions. Some I actually think he is passing up because its not what he wants but most I think he is just getting passed over for. If Penn St, Miami or Nebraska would have offered he would be gone and if something crazy happens at Miss St I bet he would take that.
