The thread on the Mississippi state board originated with the Miller tweet. MSU Beat writer for the Columbia, Mississippi newspaper says just a rumor.

Feel badly about this ... Rob Jeter is a first-class person and coach. Sometimes sources are wrong. It appears that is the case here. Apologize to coach Jeter, his staff, his players and the Milwaukee fans.

No harm no foul. I know Mark wouldn't go forward without credible sources agreeing. It just happened that the two sources were wrong. Not the first or last time that will happen.

Apologize to coach Jeter, his staff, his players and the Milwaukee fans. Given RJ's penchant for interviewing/talking to other programs...this doesn't warrant an apology in my mind. Like you said, sources are wrong sometimes.

It appears that the folks on the Mississippi State board want nothing to do with our fearless leader, based on what they are saying.

It appears that the folks on the Mississippi State board want nothing to do with our fearless leader, based on what they are saying. Funny that you mention that point. I was reading their boards last night and several MSU board members were very displeased with RJ potentially becoming their head coach. I was going to post something about it but didn't want to be chided for "hyperbole" and "taking leave of my senses".

The article in this morning's JS on Buzz staying at MU was very interesting to me.
At what point would you say it is reasonable for Panther fans to expect our Coach to make a similar announcement concerning his future?
It seems to me the best job for Coach Jeter is the one he has now. I don't know why he doesn't seem to recognize that, say he's flattered by the interest but committed to Panther Basketball and the future of the program and put all of this to rest.
He should be focused on improving this program at the same time he vests in the pension so when Bo retires he's in position to move on to Madison and get his big pay increase or take a solid bump here because the team has been back to the NCAAs.
With the kids who are already in the fold and a big recruiting class coming up after next season this seems so obvious and yet...

Rob on the sidelines in charge of a BIG10 team? I can't see it happening. He'd be in way over his head.

Jeter will need at least one good NCAA tournament run to sniff the job at UW. Bo was hired by Richter. King Barry is in charge now, he has no allegiance to Ryan. Plus, there always is the possibility that Jeter is no longer the head coach at Milwaukee, while Bo could still be coaching at UW.

Coach Jeter is already vested in the pension system. He has been for years. It was only very recently that the rules about vesting were changed.
i don't see that as a major reason for him to stick around, unless he actually is holding on to make a run at the Madison job once Bo Ryan retires. But what would his chances be of getting that job?

At what point would you say it is reasonable for Panther fans to expect our Coach to make a similar announcement concerning his future? As soon as all the other coaching openings that represent an improvement over his current position are filled.

Those are the types of conversations we're being led to believe are taking place though, with Penn State last year and Nebraska this year. Also venturing outside the Big 10 there was the Miami/Big East rumor last year and the current Mississippi St/SEC rumor. Hard to tell how much interest there really was with any of these, but Coach Jeter was at least supposed to have been part of a short list for these opportunities.

thanks for the clarification, this information changes my thoughts on whether or not there may be a better offer out there.
