See my statistical context. Despite our win totals we have never fielded a complete team, and our summary dispatch from Horizon League Tournaments has only once been anything other than embarrassing.

The response of this board has been both predictable and amusing to an extent. Its like ive been given a front row ticket to a psychological experiment meant to confirm the that following a singular potentially season ending game, the masses will spring to the most convenient scapegoat possible. I'm sure the players had absolutely nothing to do with tonight's outcome. It wasn't that butler outplayed us, or that our players underplayed butler. It must be comforting to know that the solution to our programs problems is one man, coach jeter. Its just so simple...... Butler did outplay us. And Out-COACH us. We gave up a freaking alley-oop like 6 times. I've never seen so many in a game in my life. You think maybe Jeter could have made adjustments to stop that?

I get why winning 20 games was a big deal but with most teams getting 30 - 32 regular season games getting to that mark is just not what is was even 5 years ago.
I think all the reasonable fans hear realize Jeter is not getting fired but if he were to find another opportunity and take it it won't break our hearts. He is the second highest paid coach in the league and has not managed to live up to the expectations that come with the contract he got.

This game was very bad. But Fire Jeter you guys are idiots I know for a fact that you know nothing about basketball. The man has won 20,19,20 a league title and gone to NIT with no support. No arena no practice facility. You guys think Milwaukee is the best job. Well I got news for you it's not nothing has been improved since the K was built. While others have been passing us by. Then you have a AD retire hire a idiot and then bring in a guy who is clueless. So Jeter has worked with no leadership for last four years. But your right he sucks. I can't wait till he does leave and then you idiots kiss his ass. I'm done with this board. Your not real fans if you want him out put the money up. You guys make me sick same people who said get rid of kaylon and then complained when he didnt get first team. Sounds like a smart group I guess I game like this brings out the worst in people. I'll refrain from making comments about RJ, because I just don't have a legit replacement in mind. You're wrong, Costello is top notch. This program is in good hands with Costello and Lovell at the top. I'm not a huge fan of Kaylon...he makes too many mistakes and can't make a free throw, but he seemed to do a decent job running the team. I've been a season ticket holder and booster for 12 years, and I honestly think I know a hell of a lot more about this damn team and program than you do.

Nohopspanther:
Jerry Kill did NOT succeed Glen Mason. Tim Brewster did. Brewster was 25-37 when he was fired in the middle of his 4Th Year. Is that what you are looking for in a successor to Rob Jeter? Jerry Kill was 2-6 this year. Let's see what he does , IF he remains healthy.

WOW, my team wins and I have to listen to my boyfriend tell me the same things you all are complaining about. Jeter this and Jeter that... UWM is a team that always plays hard against Butler. Then he starts telling me that they never won 20 games during the regular season. They only won 20 games 1 time vs. Div. 1 teams..blah, blah,blah...graduation rate is low, lives by transfers and walk ons....you know he also thinks Jeter should run back to Daddy Bo Ryan because he stinks at job interviews. I think Jeter is hot! ......But now that I listened to my boyfriend, I think he mite be right! Jeter is doo-doo!

I just want to post some statistics. I'm not saying to fire Jeter or keep him, because I have mixed feelings. Still, take a look at this at make your own obersations. I've posted conference records from the past five years. For the tournament "record," a 1.0 would equal a tournament championship every year. A 5.0 means you've never made it out of the opening round. Obviously, there are still two rounds left this season. I've given all four of those teams a 2.25 for this year.
PAST 5 SEASONS W L Tournament Butler 73 17 1.45 Cleveland St. 59 31 2.45 Milwaukee 54 36 3.60 Wright St. 53 37 3.60 Green Bay 51 39 4.60 Valparaiso 50 40 3.65 Detroit 35 55 3.85 Youngstown St. 26 64 4.80 Loyola-Chicago 25 65 4.80 Illinois-Chicago 24 66 4.40

I'll just chalk this up as yet another poor performance in a big game.

Costello's women's soccer hire proved that we are not in good hands. I wish that weren't the case and I hope he proves me wrong. But when you don't look seriously at an in-house proven commodity, well...

But when you don't look seriously at an in-house proven commodity, well... +1 20 wins are nice, but that is not what sells tickets. Give me 17 wins and an occasional win over Marquette and Wisconsin, and we have more interest and you might be able to make an argument to keep the man. Heck, Lloyd Carr at Michigan would get to the Rose Bowl and still got fired because he couldn't beat Ohio State. This program needs a winner more than ever. With a new arena on the line, we needed an NCAA tournament run badly.

Is that what you are looking for in a successor to Rob Jeter? Jerry Kill was 2-6 this year. Let's see what he does , IF he remains healthy. Can you read? Seriously? I said they finally got it right with hiring Jerry Kill. Minnesota hasn't made a good football hire since Lou Holtz was cheating there in 1983. Kill in one season took a team completely bereft of talent that was over-rated by his cheer leading recruiting fans and zero system on either side of the ball and won a trophy game which Brewster never did and kept the team competitive and fighting all year. He was successful at SVSU, SIU and NIU and I would be thrilled if Costello hired someone with that background. Do you know who has a resume that sounds like Brewster? Someone who was a well liked assistant by the recruits and could relate to them as a young guy who seemed really nice and full of energy but had zero background or success as a head coach? Rob Jeter. I prefer not to throw college players under the bus like some fans because the coach has a much larger affect on winning and losing at the college level. In the pros it's just the opposite, no matter how good the coach, if the players don't have it, you won't win. I'm sad that Tony Meier was a talented PF and for four years never had an above average SG on his team to complete him. I'm sad Kaylon played his guts out while being incredibly careless with the ball and showed zero change in his game from day 1 until now even though his head coach was a hell of a PG. I'm sad Ryan Allen played on a team that had no offensive system that worked from one game to the next because he had all the things you want in a defensive wing to complete a team. Do the guys need to play better, stay healthy and win? Yes. Who do I pin more of the responsibility on? The guy who brought them in and continues to leave them undeveloped with so many holes in the team.

Another thing I need to address is that this program needs a cheer leader. I hate to bring Bruce up, but had he been here, you can bet that they would have needed a couple of buses to bring kids to the game, and you, myself and others would have braved the weather to get to Valpo to see this team.
In addition, you can bet your ass that the players would have run through a brick wall for him. To me it is all about attitude. This team lacks it, and it starts with the he'd coach.

SO, you are willing to buy out Jeter , go through 4 losing seasons, to get a coach who goes 2-6 with no guarantee that he will be healthy enough to coach a winning program for any length of time. Well I am not.

Well I am not. . Not to pile on here: how do you know if Jeter were bought out that we would endure four losing seasons following his exit? Your argument is based on assuming something you can't prove.

Well, I lasted a whole 3 minutes into that game before I knew it was going to be (another) one of those oh so painful to watch games. No need to watch that garbage. I wonder if the post game locker room and bus ride were fun.
The difference between a good coach and just another guy who looks good in a suit...
