One call, that's all. Bruce Pearl. Gruber has his number. Costello should get it and make a phone call. Coach Jeter is a good man, but he has plateaued at Milwaukee. Three embarassments against Butler in the HL tourney, including one at home, in a row does nothing positive for our program. No school in Division 1 can show greater cause to hire Bruce than us. I say if Jeter leaves, let's do it. I know my friends in the student section will snicker when they read this just like they do when I say it, but I stand by my opinion. Not going to happen. Not sure why you're even bothering with this garbage. Coach Jeter's going to be here until he decides to leave, so get used to it. That's the reality. I'll bother with whatever "garbage" I want to on this board. I don't chastize you for the stuff you post.

Bruce Pearl is toxic and would be awful for this program. Were you born in 2006 2011? Or perhaps under a rock from 2002-05 2006-10? Get real. Fixed that for you. Seriously, you do realize that the NCAA wouldn't even allow us to hire him, don't you? Your post is garbage because there is a 0.0% chance of it happening. Your suggestion just makes you come off as someone with no creativity whatsoever.

Not just "We have to live with Jeter until he leaves." What would you like to see? I'm simply stating what I would like to see. I also disagree that the NCAA wouldn't let us hire him. Any school considering him has to "show cause" to hire Bruce. Few, if any, schools would have a stronger argument than we would.

that was on twitter a few days ago (with the then-appropriate number of days)...but its a pretty stupid stat...if they lose, they'll be winless in march for 300+ days...like damn near every other team in the country Umm, Butler is now 9-1 in the Horizon League tournament, 11-4 in the NCAA tournament and 19-3 in March under Brad Stevens. None of these are stupid stats. This guy could practically write his own check from any BCS program in the country with an opening. you're right...none of THOSE are stupid stats...including days not in march for the original stat? pretty stupid butler will now be winless in march for over 300 days...is brad stevens no longer an excellent tournament coach? of course not...he just won't have a shot to get a W in march for almost a year

Look, I figured I was going to take a beating, and that's fine.
Outside of the two guys that proposed the UW-Stevens Point and UW-Parkside coaches, and the guy on the "Jeter doesn't dance" thread who threw Bruce Weber's name out, I haven't seen any ideas for a new coach from anyone on here. It's all, "We need to hope Jeter leaves or just live with him until his contract is up."
I have never said to fire Coach, so I guess I fall in the "hope he gets hired elsewhere" group. He's a great guy and the financial impact would be exhorbitant.
These conference tourney embarassments year after year have to stop. Maybe there is a younger, straight-laced version of Bruce Pearl somewhere in D-2 or D-3. If there is, and I'm sure it's probably the case, we need to start looking for him.
The enthusiasm for Milwaukee basketball was never higher than what it was when Bruce was here. A lot of that was generated by the power of his personality. That's what I want to see, and what I want from a head coach. Jeter's simply not a "rah! rah! fire up the troops" personality, but that's what we need.
If someone knows of a coach somewhere like that that we could take a chance on, let's hear what you have. Until then, I'll stay on the Pearl wagon, even if I'm alone.

If there are no more contract extensions, Jeter is here until he decides to leave until 2016. After the soccer hire Costello made, it wouldn't be a surprise if there are no more contract extensions for Jeter unless there is success that warrants the extension.

I'll give you some creativity if and when Rob leaves Milwaukee. Until then, it's a pointless exercise. Coaches that are available now won't be available at that time and vice versa. The long and short of it is, I'd like to see our coach get us to the NCAA Tournament with a clean program. To me, it doesn't matter who that individual is.

Unlike you I had a front row seat to Ric Cobb, Bo Ryan and Bruce Pearl. He needs to never be in control of the program again because of the NCAA trouble that would be certain to follow.

That had to have been traumatic.

The problem is unless we get to the tournament soon (sounds like a broken record), we can win 20+ games a year and still lack the interest needed to build an arena on campus. Money needs to be found to buy out Jeter and start over...20 win seasons gets you nothing.....unless you beat Wisconsin or Marquette in the process and that hasn't happened.
If we had the $$ how many of you would be in favor of dumping Jeter?

Unlike you I had a front row seat to Ric Cobb, Bo Ryan and Bruce Pearl. Under Cobb you probably had your own section let alone seat. Not section, side of the gym. Yes, I could sit in the end zones or across from the bench and be the only person on that side of the gym. The band at that point was student run and reflected as much with a total lack of showing up or showing up having no idea what they were doing. The change happened with some coordination in Bo's first season between the AD and getting a new Assistant Director of Bands.
