The funny thing is, every single year there's at least one area that is nationally outstanding. This year it's defense and free throw differential. If it were up to me, even if we did fire him, I'd still put him on that pissant wall-of-fame by the Klotsche bathrooms right up there with Pearl and Ryan. More 20-win seasons than any coach we've ever had.
It's the sheer unevenness of his program that at this point might be the biggest argument against him.
He's been our coach for seven years. The progression was amazingly slow, but the regression has been stunningly abrupt.

I've brought up a number of examples when coaches have been fired for the wrong reason. Well here's another one: Glen Mason was fired at the U of MN after they got blown out in a Bowl. Want to tell me about the great results that MN Football has had since that firing. You do NOT fire a coach after a 20-13 season! Maybe it has been done and it has been successful. BUT That would be an unusual result. OK. I am out of here. Hopefully there will be something good to watch on the FNF.

I'm am starting to wonder what the H#LL I was thinking when I was happy that Jeter didn't bolt to Bradley.
Wish he had left now. At least we might have some new bound hope to start something...

As long as we have Jeter at the helm, we can apparently hope for 20 win seasons with likely no NCAA tournament. If that's good enough for you, then that's great. Unfortunately, in a sports climate dominated by Marquette and Wisconsin where people expect NCAA tournament success, possibly scraping into the NIT isn't enough. That's the whole point. Without more consistent post-season success, this program is doomed to even more obscurity. Sports fans don't care about 20 win seasons anymore. This program is (or should be) better than that.

Best of luck to Coach Jeter in his inevitable flirtation with Southern Illinois and Nebraska.

Glen Mason was fired after blowing a 31 point halftime lead in a bowl game and shooting off his mouth about an extension while never finishing better than 4th in the B1G. Now Minnesota has made a great hire in Jerry Kill and things are finally headed in the right direction. At this rate you should be made to watch tonights game every single day of the off-season and then tell us how recruits want to play for Jeter and the program is on the rise. Once again you demonstrate you only have topical knowledge of other programs and why they fired their coaches.

This game was very bad. But Fire Jeter you guys are idiots I know for a fact that you know nothing about basketball. The man has won 20,19,20 a league title and gone to NIT with no support. No arena no practice facility. You guys think Milwaukee is the best job. Well I got news for you it's not nothing has been improved since the K was built. While others have been passing us by. Then you have a AD retire hire a idiot and then bring in a guy who is clueless. So Jeter has worked with no leadership for last four years. But your right he sucks. I can't wait till he does leave and then you idiots kiss his ass. I'm done with this board. Your not real fans if you want him out put the money up. You guys make me sick same people who said get rid of kaylon and then complained when he didnt get first team. Sounds like a smart group

I think Jeter's contract goes through 2016? If that's the case, I just don't see him being fired with that many years left. It's a shame the season ended like this, as I really think the team underachieved this year. I'd like to think that's mostly coach's fault, and not the players. Injuries did play a role, but I don't think enough to validate these poor performances. Sad to see Ryan Allen go though. His improvement was amazing, and he's such a smart player who plays under control, to go along with the unbelievable athleticism.

Something has to change. We, as an university, have no room to tread water or let alone be mediocre. Can't attract a fan base or get money for new facilities with less than impressive play.

The response of this board has been both predictable and amusing to an extent. Its like ive been given a front row ticket to a psychological experiment meant to confirm the that following a singular potentially season ending game, the masses will spring to the most convenient scapegoat possible. I'm sure the players had absolutely nothing to do with tonight's outcome. It wasn't that butler outplayed us, or that our players underplayed butler. It must be comforting to know that the solution to our programs problems is one man, coach jeter. Its just so simple......

For people saying its stupid to fire Jeter I'll ask one question?
How much more time do you give him to get the the NCAA's?
He's never made it with his recruits. Just his 1st year when he inherited a good team.
Its been SIX YEARS. Are you looking to wait 6 more? or is falling short every year satisfying for you?

I'm not saying replacing Jeter is magically going to transform this program. My question merely is: when are things finally going to change? What happens to this program if these results continue for four more seasons?
