This is what we know, spots that are confirmed: 1. Valparaiso Things that are likely to happen, spots almost confirmed: 9. UIC 10. Loyola *To take the 9 seed, Loyola would have to win the last 2 and still hope for Milwaukee to finish ahead of Detroit or Youngstown State ... teams that UIC beat If the season ended today (which, of course, it doesn't), the tournament pairings would be ... FIRST ROUND Tuesday, February 28 (at campus sites)(10) Loyola (1-15) at (3) Cleveland State (10-6), 6 p.m. (7) Green Bay (8-8) at (6) Milwaukee (9-7), 7 p.m. (8) Wright State (7-9) at (5) Youngstown State (9-7), 6 p.m. (9) UIC (3-13) at (4) Detroit (10-6), 6 p.m. - Cleveland State wins tiebreaker over Detroit on head-to-head record (1-0; teams play on 2/23)
- Youngstown State wins tiebreaker over Milwaukee on head-to-head record (2-0)
QUARTERFINALS Friday, March 2 (at Athletics Recreation Center, Valparaiso, Ind.)Loyola-Cleveland State winner vs. Green Bay-Milwaukee winner, TBA Wright State-Youngstown State winner vs. UIC-Detroit winner, TBA SEMIFINALS Saturday, March 3 (at Athletics Recreation Center, Valparaiso, Ind.)Loyola-CSU-GB-Milwaukee vs. (2) Butler (11-6), 4 p.m. (tape-delayed on ESPNU, 9:30 p.m.) WSU-YSU-UIC-Detroit at (1) Valparaiso (13-4), 6:30 p.m. (ESPNU) CHAMPIONSHIP Tuesday, March 6 (at highest remaining seed)Semifinal winners, 8 p.m. (ESPN)

Can we end up in a 4 way tie with CSU, Detroit, and Butler that would give us the #2 seed? I don't know if the tie-breaker would come to this but if we were all 11-7 we would be 1-1 vs Valpo, Butler, CSU, and Detroit all go swept. The tiebreaker would happen by Butler losing to Valpo. We win both of our games vs Loyola and UIC. Cleveland St loses to Detroit and beats Wright St. Detroit beats CSU but loses @ysu. I suppose Youngstown st could also beat Wright St to make it a 5 way tie for 2nd as well and I have no clue what would happen in that scenario.

Can we end up in a 4 way tie with CSU, Detroit, and Butler that would give us the #2 seed? I don't know if the tie-breaker would come to this but if we were all 11-7 we would be 1-1 vs Valpo, Butler, CSU, and Detroit all go swept. If this scenario of Butler, Milwaukee, Cleveland State and Detroit all finishing at 11-7 were to happen, it would come down to records vs. the group: Milwaukee would be 3-3 (split with all 3) and Butler would be 2-4 (were swept by Detroit) Now here's the tricky part ... If Detroit beats Cleveland State, it would win this 4-way tiebreaker with a 4-2 record. Cleveland State would be 3-3. ... Detroit would get the 2 seed. But if Cleveland State were to beat Detroit, that would put Milwaukee and Detroit at 3-3 and Cleveland State at 4-2. ... Cleveland State would get the 2 seed. So doesn't look like Milwaukee would have a chance in this scenario since one team (Detroit or Cleveland State) is for sure going to have a sweep in its favor. I suppose Youngstown st could also beat Wright St to make it a 5 way tie for 2nd as well and I have no clue what would happen in that scenario. Milwaukee doesn't want to be involved in any tiebreaker with Youngstown State due to being swept. Bottom line, Milwaukee benefited last year from pulling off a sweep over a top team (Butler). No such luck year (best ... and only so far ... sweep is Green Bay) and also suffered a sweep at the hands of a team it's in contention with.

That tie would not give us the two seed - I will explain everything in a post on PantherU that I'm about halfway through on. And the forum is open. edit: looks like Hack got the gist of it, although my post will break down scenarios for all seeds we can hit.

Dang...
That BS finish in Detroit just seems to loom larger and larger over our heads...

basically, we need Butler to lose, Detroit to lose out, and Wright State to win out...then it would be us, Cleveland and Butler...tied against one another at 2-2
It would then come down to performance against the top seed...we'd have the best record of the bunch, as butler and cleveland got swept and we went 1-1
and of course, we can't falter in Chicago

Dang... That BS finish in Detroit just seems to loom larger and larger over our heads... You're not kidding. Not only would MKE have a tiebreaker over Detroit, they'd be tied in the loss column for 2nd place and have an edge over everyone but YSU.

GB-Milwaukee game would be sweet match-up! That being said it would be a very tough 1st round game. I like my odds versus Wright State, UIC or Loyola.

It wasn't just Detroit. Every game we lost to the top four was a game we not only could have but should have won. At Butler, at Detroit, Valpo at home. Throw in the game at YSU, another we should have won, and that's the season in a nutshell.
But that's water under the bridge. Let's win two in Chicago and see where it lands us. I made my Valpo hotel reservations last night, as soon as they nipped LU in OT.

I think we will win our last 2 and that will probably put us in the 2-4 range (likely 3 or 4).
Lets hope everything else fall into place and we somehow, someway grab the #2 slot. We would not only have a great shot to win the HLT but we would have a decent shot at hosting the finals too!
When we were 4-5 last year no one thought we would win out and win the conference but we did. Even if its a long shot I'm keeping my eye's on the #2 seed until we are officially eliminated from getting it.

Throw in the game at YSU, another we should have won, and that's the season in a nutshell. Bingo. Let's just say Milwaukee would have beat Butler and Detroit out of those four (2-2). It would put them at 11-5 and comfortably in the #2 seed with sweeps of Butler & Detroit going into the Chicago trip. But, water under the bridge is correct. Let's just win out and see where the chips fall.

On the flipside, Green Bay had Milwaukee beat at the Cell.
