Right, I attend as many games, home and away, as I can, make my donations and volunteer my time and support the kids because the program has no excitement and is dwindling on the vine. If your mileage varies, that sucks for you. One less area of joy in your life and you know what? That's strictly your decision. You can be positive about the program and do what you can to help it or you can be negative and b*tch about how it's disappointing you. We have made different choices. By the way, I can pretty much assure you that the decision makers who run the program have a view of our coach that is very far removed from yours. But hey, what do they know? They're just professionals, while you're an internet sports expert who knows how the program and its donors should be spending their money better than they do. I'm pretty sure you do this because you are the biggest homer and only see the world through black and gold colored glasses. Oh wait, I forgot, the mantra of this board is a fan is only a fan if they blindly follow whatever coach we have. I thought I was the biggest homer? I mean, I've got at least five inches and 150 pounds on Fran. This is what I know. Our coach is Rob Jeter. Until the day comes when he is no longer our coach, we should support him and cheer on his team. That said, if you are disappointed with the progress the team is making, the style of play or the recruiting, there is no better place than here to vent those feelings. Well, I suppose conversation with other fans would be better, but really this place exists to discuss the program we all care about, for better or for worse. The thing I don't get, and I'm sure many will disagree, is why pull all support out of the program? There are better ways of voicing disapproval than to stop buying tickets, sit in silence at games, or outright cheering for the opposing team (thankfully it hasn't come to this last one). I hope that at the end of the day, while in the arena we all still clap for the coach and players, cheer good play, enjoy ourselves, and exhibit all the Black and Gold pride we have.

Jimmy (Black Panther) hit it right on the head. I for one am somewhere in between the two two spectrums , one extreme being a Pearl dead-ender and the other a lifetime contract for Rob (Fran?)...will continue to support the team , donate , season tickets what have you whether Rob is coach or not although my allegiance is to my alma mater first not a particular coach.
some food for thought:
6 years with w Rob's recruits . One three way Horizon League regular schedule championship, a so-called Coach of the Year award despite being deer in the headlights in the title game on our home court. Butler was good yes but could have been had if we looked fired up , came out confident and prepared as we did in some prior champsionship games against Butler in our own arena under an earlier regime but I digress...One NIT bid , one and done... I do think the recruiting has improved but is it and or coaching enough to truly be of championship caliber in significant games when chips are down?? Hopefully answer is yes...did see improvement in the CSU game...unlike Valpo and YSU had a feeling that despite what was going on we were somehow going to win.. why??? Kind of like years back when Boston Collge jumped out in the tourney, we called time out and just looking at our bench you could see we were going to be fine.. no panic...we looked that way against CSu which is a credit to our coaching staff and the players... Unlike the prior two games the Head Coach did not pout, look angry, spend most of time grimacing and complaining about the officials but the players looked conifident relaxed and the coaches seemed that way too. Intersestingly enough Gary Waters looked a lot more like Rob did in those previous losses and there was a real differnce in our bench at CSU. I just had a feeling we would be alright. This is where I have doubts yet but hopefully like the recruiting there is progression here in game management and poise. Leave it to others to judge if we can get truly to that next level in both areas and back to dare I say it,,, an NCAA visit after six years? I sense that if we run a clean program, finish in top four, but not get back to the dance for another six years some people are going to say that is fine, lets not make a change and be satisfied. Does Rob actually have FOUR more years?? Did we give a 10 year contract or something??./ This is unbelievable...also I see comments at times that Rob turned down high major offers elswwhere. Know he has crertainly interviewed often but seriously, do we actually think the likes of Miami or Penn State offered or if any other high major did he would not be gone so fast it would heads spin...anyway, for now lets win the HL tourney and go to the Dance. Anything short of that in next fiour years just once is unacceptable. Do not feel good about 10 years in a row with no NCAA bid.. if that happens , I am sorry , we need to make a change despite what a nice guy he is and how clean the program is, not saying it should not be clean...please....

Had a Discussion with Andy Geiger over Firing coaches. I BELIEVE that Geiger was then the AD at Ohio State. He said if you fire a (Football) coach you better have a better candidate in mind because it costs a MILLION DOLLARS! to make a coaching change. Did he make such a move? YES! He fired the moderately successful John Cooper replaced him with Jim Tressel; beat Michigan EVERY YEAR; won 1 National Championship and played in 2 other BCS Championship Games. Despite the ignominious ending to the Tressel era, I think most people would agree with that move. In Basketball Geiger fired Randy Ayers who could not win after Gary Williams recruits left. He then hired Jim O'Brien who took the Buckeyes to the Final 4, but was fired for irregularities, which would not apply to Rob Jeter. No One would dispute the Thad Matta hiring. Do people here in Milwaukee want Jeter fired? I certainly don't. Jeter hasn't had a lot of the player problems that Cooper had, OR the questionable financial dealings that Jim O'Brien had. And he had more success following Bruce Pearl than Randy Ayers had following Gary Williams. The Point should be ARE YOU CERTAIN that a coaching change is in the best interest of UWM. Does UWM have the funds to implement a coaching change? From what I have read the answer is no. I really do not think that the evidence is there to justify a Basketball coaching change AT THIS TIME.

Nice post, and I agree. The problem I and many of us have is just because we know Jeter won't get canned doesn't mean he's not accountable to us fans and alumni. He's a smart guy; he knows the school can't afford to fire him even if the team isn't getting the job done. Other than this message board, what other recourse do we have to hold this guy's feet to the fire? There have been many games this season where the performance has sucked. And a lot of us are going to comment on it notwithstanding this coach's prodigious contract.

UWM97:
Watch the Badgers-MSU tonight? Spartans had at least a 21 point lead on a couple of occasions. It looked like they were going to blow the game open, the way it looked like UWM was going to blow open the De Paul game (and didn't). Well the Badgers hung around until the last minute trimming the Spartans lead to single digits (I think). Anyone want to criticize Izzo for "allowing" the Badgers to hang around? I just think there is too much nit picking of Jeter, who is a very good Basketball Coach.

I have no idea what the MSU/Badgers game has anything to do with my last post.

Shows that a team coached by Tom Izzo can not hold a lead better than a coach like Rob Jeter.
