This is a disappointment to me. I'm sorry, it just goes to show how sucky the Horizon League has become this year. I had such high hopes for most of the teams (Milw,Butler, Valpo, CSU, and Detroit). This was a more depleted Western team than the one that Detroit blew out almost a month ago now. Of course I expect you guys to beat us next week.
Look at the bright side, at least you guys won't be needing to look for a new coach in two years!

Heartbreaking loss to Butler and go back on the road three days later for a non-conference game. Can't say some didn't see this coming.

And it should be painfully obvious that there is no reason you'd expect WMU to outscore us or any other by that much in their inside game. Just look at the other box scores from previous games. We were completely out of sorts the entire game and could not re-gain our composure. There's no reason for that. Need a big time regroup....

The offensive ineptitude is a problem that will derail this season. Consistently shooting 35-40% from the floor is a ticket to mediocrity, notwithstanding how good the defense is.

I thought a corner had been turned when they hadn't played a game like this in a game they should win so far this year. Guess not. Holding teams to 57 points a game doesn't mean squat if you can barely score 58-59-60. Same problems from last year and years before. Rely way too much on three's. They are not that good (or at least CONSISTENT) enough to always rely on the three. It's one thing to have an off game shooting every few games or so but its basically been every other game. Good defense doesn't mean squat if you can't hit shots on offense (and especially from the free throw line).

I almost wonder if Kaylon Williams is breaking down. The last 3 games in the past 4-5 days he has played 40, 40 and 37 minutes, which is a ton of time for a big physical guard like him, and he went 4-10 vs. Valpo, 3-12 against Butler and 1-8 against WMU. He's probably the biggest key to making the offense go, and really other than Allen, he's really the only guy that is athletic or skilled enough to make things happen on his own for Milwaukee.
Not sure why Shaq Boga hasn't been looked to more even just to give him a breaks and help him (Boga) get developed for later in the year and the future. It'll be interesting to see how he (Kaylon) handles the 2nd game of each conference weekend, especially on the road.

I'm just disappointed because these losses (although losses in general suck) really helps validate the negative perception that the "on the fence" fan base has towards the program. Those people are whom the athletic department is trying to convince to attend games regularly and not just when its against UW/MU or in the HL title game. I know that I'll be at the next games regardless of outcome, but they don't have that kind of luxury with most of the "fan" base.

Definitely a disappointing loss, although I can't say it gets me too excited one way or the other. I watched WMU play Duke the other night and saw that kid Stainbrook and knew he would be a load for us to handle. Once again, Kyle getting into foul trouble really hurt our post defense. He just has to play smarter.
Too many threes. The shooting will come around -- it always does -- but I'd like to see us work the post more.
Can't draw too many conclusions from a game I didn't actually see, and it will get about 6 column inches on an inside page of the JS, so no one else will either. This game is about as invisible as they come.
Looking forward to Green Bay and a game that indisputably matters.

Broncos roll over road-weary Panthers www.jsonline.com/sports/panthers/136634033.htmlPlease don't misconstrue this as a criticism of the officiating, as I didn't have the benefit of seeing the game. But how could anyone write a story of this game without mentioning the free-throw disparity of 37 to 9? That's Journalism 101 and David Drew failed.

Consistently shooting 35-40% from the floor is a ticket to mediocrity, notwithstanding how good the defense is. Agreed. And shooting 36 3-point attempts is NOT the way to improve that percentage. As much as we need to get the ball in the post more (and we do), I am wondering if anyone on this team can hit a mid-range jumper. Do we even take those shots anymore? Listening to Bill and Kevin last night, it seemed every shot was a layup, and dunk, or a 3.

how could anyone write a story of this game without mentioning the free-throw disparity of 37 to 9? I know you aren't criticizing the officials, and I sure hope no one else is either. When one team pounds the ball inside all game long, and the other spends the majority of each possession passing it outside the arc, well....you get the disparity we saw last night. The team is 100% to blame for the lack of foul shots. Not the officials.

Seemed like every shot last night was a Milwaukee 3 or a Western Michigan free throw.
And 3 of 9 from the charity stripe, including two missed front ends of the bonus by Tony Meier during "winning time," will not cut it. (This is a recording).
Is anyone here convinced that our free-throw shooting will come around ... ever?
