This game is pretty meaningless. I wouldn't mind using this as an opportunity to give Shaq time at the point, and use Williams to rest Shaq. Not sure who else could be used to run the point, but maybe give time to someone else.

Love the timing of this game. A great opportunity to get this nasty taste out of our mouths before resuming conference play Saturday in a big way.

A difference between last year and this year will be winning this game. Yes it may not mean much, but good teams win the games they need to win. The Panthers have done a better job of that so far this year than last year. WMU might be having a down year but a road win would still be better than another road loss.

I think its an important game that we need to win to get back some momentum for the long stretch of conference play.

The Panthers are currently 74th in the latest RPI, 78th in the latest Sagarin ratings and 83rd on kenpom. You play to win the game, right?

Obviously you try to win every game and every win is important. But let's be realistic, the RPI's are useless, Milwaukee is not an at large team and a win or loss against Western Michigan does not change this. Personally I think it is important that Shaq or someone else get minutes at the point and this game is an opportunity to do that.

Personally, I think it is important that Shaq or someone else get minutes at the point and this game is an opportunity to do that. Hang on a sec. I want to see the team win 20 games and play in a postseason tournament somewhere. Both of these achievements are important for reasons of history and program advancement. Only once has the program advanced to a Division 1 postseason tournament of some kind in consecutive seasons (2003-2006). As a matter of fact, the Panthers have qualified for postseason play only five times in their history. An NIT berth looks nice should we fail to gain NCAA tournament qualification. Only two coaches (Antrim and Pearl) have had as many as three 20-win seasons here. I'd love to see Rob join their company. A big reason for our failure to advance in the NIT last season was the low seeding precipitated by our abysmal 5-8 non-conference record. By the way, the Panthers do have three days off between games and might have payback on their minds.

I guess I see this game in a different way than others. I'd love to see a win, but I don't see the importance of this game. About the only importance of this game is that it might be a bad loss for an NIT at large bid. I doubt a win will have any impact for at large NIT and will have no impact for at large NCAA. I would rather see other players get more minutes and give the starters some rest.

I suspect that this game was scheduled for tactical reasons, so that the team could remain sharp in between games against our biggest league rivals.
Of course, I don't expect Kaylon to play 40 minutes again, either.

I would pay Kaylon for about 10 minutes just to keep him sharp. Have him play the first 5 and don't bring him back in unless we start getting into trouble. All games are important. All games are played to be won. I'd play it that way from the beginning, establish control then start subbing liberally. We should definitely be able to do that. If we can't, I'm worried about our team.

There is no way we're sitting anyone for "rest". Starters won't take the game off 'till it's well in hand. This team is not like Nebraska-Omaha and we all know they beat us last year. Kaylon, Tony, and Ryan included. I'm sure they are looking for some payback.
Besides, this is not MLB or the NFL and they just had a week off for Christmas break. These are 18 to 22 year old young men. If any of them need rest after playing only 15 games. Wow.

Thank you. Sit people, are you kidding?! We play to win. Non conference games do matter to programs that are relevant. I hope our fans consider this team relevant. I expect 110 percent and a win over the feeble MAC.

For me it is not about resting players, these guys are athlete's in supreme condition and don't need the rest, so don't include me in any they need rest group. For me it is about giving someone else time at point guard. We need to see what we have when Kaylan is out, and so far it doesn't look like much since Kaylan is averaging 36 minutes per game in conference, 34 overall. That amount of minutes per game will take it's toll by the end of the season, since I would expect teams to get more physical with Kaylan and try to wear him down. I would also like to get Wolf and Harris more minutes in this game.
