I see a nicely played, solid win to start the season.
I just want to see us get out of the game healthy, get a win, and look good doing it.

I'm not concerned about a win. After watching the Parkside game, I want us to get the interior players as many touches as possible.

How is James Haarsma's midrange game?
At 6-foot-4 1/2, I'm concerned about him getting too many touches in the post.

He's a solid 6'6". I watched him in the proam and he can score inside. He's also got a solid isolation game and a decent (not great) jumper out to 3-point range.

How is James Haarsma's midrange game? At 6-foot-4 1/2, I'm concerned about him getting too many touches in the post. Not a concern for me. Haarsma clearly found ways to score (11pts/game as a sophomore) at Evansville against bigger and more experienced competition. He also did a heck of a job at the proam against some very good players. Now James will likely be more experienced than most of the players he faces.

One point of fact:
The biggest and best program Evansville faced in 2009-10 was Butler (on Nov. 21). The Purple Aces had no BCS opponents that season.
It's not that I'm down on James in the least; it's just that I have concerns about him in a league with so many quality bigs -- like Ben Averkamp, Alec Brown, Eli Holman, Aaron Pogue and Andrew Smith.
Those guys are all close to a half-foot taller than James.
Maybe it would be advisable to hold off redshirting J.J. Panoske?

Evansville beat #22 Northern Iowa at the end of the year, and Haarsma scored 12, 8, and 2. UNI went to the Elite 8 that season.

One point of fact: The biggest and best program Evansville faced in 2009-10 was Butler (on Nov. 21). I respectfully disagree Butler may have been the best program they faced, a game in which Haarsma scored 11pts and grabbed 5 boards(against the #10 ranked team in the nation). But definitely not the biggest, seeing as the biggest player Butler furnished that night was Matt Howard (6'8 230lbs.) another point of fact: Haarsma scored 12pts and nabbed 8 boards in an upset against #22 UNI that year. Not to mention he played against Jake Koch (6'9 245lbs.) and Adam Koch (6'8 255lbs.) two pretty big dudes, who were capable ball players. I just think concern over a post-player, no matter how undersized, who in his SOPHOMORE year averaged 11.5pts and 6.5 rebs against bigger and better (nationally ranked anyway) opponents, is undue. You’re definitely entitled to your concern, but I offer my counter argument in an effort to alleviate some of that concern. Even though I highly doubt James ever replaces the presence of an Ant Hill, I think he will be productive offensively. Even if it means fighting for his points on second and third efforts, or just getting to the line. It will definitely be interesting to see how James mixes it up in the Horizon League.

Seeing what I saw from the Pro-Am James plays bigger than himself. Now with 2 ticky tack fouls early in the scrimmage we didn't get to see much.

I would be thrilled if James could get us 10 points and 5 rebounds a game.

I would be substantially more thrilled if he could give us 5 and 10.
Any scoring from James is a bonus. What I really want out of him is tough work on the inside, especially defensively.
