Some of the people on the JS board really are idiots. Some? Now that's generous. I'd say the vast, vast majority of people on the JS board are mouth-breathing fools. It's the same people posting every day, on just about any subject, posting nearly the same negative response to any issue. If you value your brain and don't want to fall into deep depression about the state of the JS' readership, I'd say avoid the comment section altogether.

Content dictates opinion almost all of the time. Just saying.

5-6 years would be on the fast end; I wouldn't be surprised if it took 7-8. It took a solid 10 for the Kohl Center to be completed. dunne, thanks for the shout-out on the js board. Those comment boards are like picking at a scab, you know you need to leave it alone and nothing good can come from ripping it open again, yet you do it anyways.

Ya, just a shout out because I think it would be something to look into at the very least.

] Some of the people on the JS board really are idiots. Just some? i swear there is something about the comments area of a blog or newspapers that adversely affects people's ability to reason, judging the the idiocy i see in the comments.

Arch and Planning options have been completed for some time, unless they want to go off the board and try some place new.
I believe there were 5 or 6 proposed sites.

You've been gone for about a year so here's the update: They went with a new firm. I don't know which one. But it's a full plan, not just the arena drawings etc. They're getting ready for the push.

I think we all want this project to hit a home run; we need to be patient examine every possible option, maybe even change architectural firms a couple times (or at least demand multiple options in different locations) to get what we desire. Our University has had so many opportunities in the past to make a big splash when funding new buildings and we've squandered almost all of them: Curtain, Lubar, Pavilion, latest addition to Lapham, and Physics were all missed chances. We're making pretty good strides with projects like the Kenwood IRC and GLRF, (check the UAP web site for info www4.uwm.edu/uap/projects/ ). An Arena is going to be our most publicly accessible/visible structure we've ever built. It needs to be great looking, function exceptionally, and we can't cheap out doing it. So all in all, I'm fine if it takes 6 years or 16, as long as it lives up to expectations.

My one demand is a hanging box scoreboard. It's just not the same otherwise.

Lovell and Costello won't "f" this project up....if they're still around through the planning process and the actual construction. I trust both of them to build an absolute gem of an arena for UWM and the community.

The only thing that will stop this from happening is money, or the lack of it, to be exact. If the donors can be found (and that's still a very big if) all the other issues will be solved.
From a design standpoint, the renderings I have seen are very attractive, but I suspect those renderings are little more than an architect's imagination at this point, not a true representation of what would be built.

Saw it in a PowerPoint that the AD uses.
