Meanwhile, the J-S reports ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! It's possible the Journal has been asked to not report on this. If that is the case, then they aren't doing there job.

It's possible the Journal has been asked to not report on this. If that is the case, then they aren't doing there job. It only takes one phone call from someone with the right clout to get the Journal to go with or not go with a story. I hope you don't think the Journal is a place of unbiased journalistic excellence.

Yeah, a newspaper that just won its third Pulitzer in four years is withholding info on a possible coaching change on the local DI men's basketball team that averages 3,000 per game.

This isn't a Tennessee situation where I have no positive or negative opinion on the program one way or the other. I hate the University of Miami with 96.5% of my being.

All we have is speculation about a meeting that took place. Fact is, this thread is 16 pages to many and really no longer serves a purpose. The real story exists if Jeter actually goes to Miami.

The real story exists if Jeter actually goes to Miami. National media sources as well as the Miami Herald have reported that a meeting happened and that a formal interview is planned for this Wednesday. That no longer qualifies as simply speculation. To be fair, it would be hard to fill an entire column with this information, however that's why we need a beat writer with his own blog, a la Todd Rosiak. This type of information would be perfect for such a medium.

So by that logic, no one should b*tch about lack of game previews in the newspaper because the "story/game didn't happen yet." People around here like to compare UWM coverage to that of UW and MU ... do you think if Bo or Buzz were interviewing at an ACC school that wouldn't garner a story in the newspaper? The reason why there is no story in the newspaper? Enlund. Count how many bylines of his you see in the spring and summer and get back to me.

Completely off topic, but while I agree it's a nice accomplishment for the JS to win a Pulitzer, it takes the sheen off when the J-S itself then trumpets the award with a banner headline, a half page picture on the first "news" page, two full pages of the already razor thin news section devoted to the prize and a full column editorial trumpeting the award.
We won!!! We're great! REALLY great!! In our opinion, we're FANTASTIC!!
I miss real newspapers.

I did miss seeing G-Money trying to mug for the cameras this time around on something he had absolutely no part in. Oh well, Martin Kaiser will have to do.

I really, really miss the old Chicago Tribune.
Dale Hoffman, telling a circulation rep why he had dropped his Trib during the early part of the last decade, said he had done so because Bernie Lincicome was no longer with the paper.
She responded: "I'm sorry. Was he your carrier?"
Here's just one of many famous Bernie quotes:
"The Cubs are bound by nature to reaffirm the futile and confirm the inadequate."

Okay, they're comments on the web version of Miami Herald, but some of those comments...man. Mr. Eichorst has underwhelmed some of the UM fans so far.
