“I have a great basketball family in Milwaukee that I trust. Our group of young men is very special and I want to be there with my guys and our fans in Milwaukee to take this team to even greater heights.”
Love this quote. Absolutely love it.

I think the one right before it is even more powerful: "We talked a lot about trust and family as we were winning games down the stretch."

Per the Bradley board, Jeter turned down 5 years, $450K per year. From a financial perspective, that doesn't seem like much incentive to leave. But, a post claims that Jeter was given a 3-year extension by UWM. Anyone know whether this is true or not? That would mean UWM is contracted with him for 5 more years (through 2015-16 season), as I read his current contract.

I think they either offered him more than that or they're nutz.
No coach is going to uproot himself and his family for a marginal salary increase. That's especially true here when RJ has a good nucleus of returning players, a great recruiting class coming in and a chance to build on a successful season.
No one will trade all that for a rebuilding job in Peoria. If anyone in Bradley's AD is floating that out there it's because they are trying to avoid embarrassment after being turned down when they made a much better offer.

I believe Jeter's contract was already extended by Bud through 2016, so the additional extension would be through 2019.

I'm sure Bradley feels that they have egg on their face.

No extension. They're throwing stuff out there to make themselves feel better.

That kind of lends credence to the report that Jeter was offered over $700,000. Bradley is getting into dangerous waters with all these reports leaking out. Whoever they hire will now know that they are the third choice.

I think the fact that coaches are turning down absurd amounts of money speaks volumes about how tainted Bradley's administration has made this job.

I'm not so sure. There are coaches like George Mason's who turn down offers from high majors because they like where they are. Don't you think Brad Stevens got a ton of offers for bigger bucks after last year?
Just maybe some people like Jeter and Sutton see more than money. They like where they are, they're building a solid program and know they have job security. Why take 700k for a rebuilding job that may or may not be possible and be out in a year or three, when they can stay where they are, keep building up a great program and be there as long as they like.
