The Lloyd Noble Center is one of the greatest arenas in college basketball, fantastic rivalries with Kansas, OSU, Texas and Missouri, natural southern and western recruiting bases, tradition-rich in both basketball and football, and they can pay him a truckload of money. And the talent on the OU campus is off the charts

Just playing devils advocate, and I know MU doesn't necessairly have the rivalries that OU does, but MU does play some pretty talented teams in the Big East on an annual basis.
Besides Kansas, the Big 12 has a few solid teams (Texas, Missouri), and that may be another reason to leave MU for OU because of the decrease in competition from the Big East to the Big 12.
Your thoughts?

On top of all the other things, he's from the area as Hack noted. He's got recruiting connections (remember Jimmy Butler is from Texas) and it's a perfect fit for him, at least on paper. Maybe he loves it at Marquette and considers himself a Milwaukee guy now, who knows. We'll soon find out.

I hadn't been around for a few days and then today I heard that RJ took his name of out contention for the Bradley job on the radio while driving to work.
Glad I missed all the hand wringing and I'm glad that RJ turned down bigger money to stay put. It seems that throughout his time with us, people have underestimated the man. We had all the "he's gone" stuff when the Iowa State job came around. Now it seems a number of us had him out the door this time too.
That's not even mentioning how many gave up on him after his second season when we truly sucked. I'll take a coach who keeps surprising us by exceeding expectations over a Bruce Pearl anyday

That picture was from this season - the suit over Jeter's shoulder is a trainer that got here this year.

You didn't like how much he got paid and didn't like how things were going in December. To your credit, you did say let's wait and see untill the season is over.

Sport was talking about "after the second season" not about last December. I've talk to him in person about Jeter, so thank you I know what he is talking about. Actually you don't. I was talking about the second season when so many people wanted him fired. And you are right in that I was certainly unhappy earlier this year, but I never called for RJ to be fired, although I did say he shouldn't get another extension if we didn't do well in the HL tourney. But that's my point. He surprised many people (including me) and I'd rather have a coach who surprises by exceeding expectations (even mine) than one who surprises by falling far short. Jeter has continually surprised us by doing to the former. Another (former) UWM coach seems to be doing the latter.

I wasn't talking about the 2nd year. I was talking about this season. Thanks for saying I was correct, in what you said! I'm glad things have worked out for the Panthers this season. The future does look bright!

Supposedly Buzz is #1 on Arkansas' s wish list. And he supposedly has family there also. I heard this as well. And welcome to the board!
