Better than an exhibition or a D-II school, pretty good for last second scheduling.

Great work finding that! Good insight. The Panthers, I would guess didn't want a gap between Dec.13 and their next game on Dec. 22, follow that up by another week off. They were looking to fill Dec. 15 at the Cell. Why is there a fall graduation ceremonies at the Cell on Dec. 17 & Dec 18? The Panthers have always of late, played at the Cell on the 3rd Saturday night in December.

Fall Graduation is always around the same time, usually that Sunday.
UNO is pretty decent at hockey, we'll see what happens when the try to play bball w/the big boys...

Lots of layers here, folks.
Is there any precedent for the Panthers adding a game this late in the fall ... or being on the paying end of a buy game?
UNO was an opponent of ours at the Iowa State tournament during 2001-02, Bruce Pearl's first year.
One might also suggest that the Panthers didn't want to run the risk of losing six straight games from Dec. 10 through Jan. 3.

The article also mentions that UNO dropped football and wrestling in order to make the move to Dl. And the poll at the bottom of the page has 65% saying it was a terrible move, and only 15% saying it was a good/great move. I'd be curious to check out their attendance numbers throughout their first season in Dl. We are also mentioned in a different article I read... "The changes also would leave UNO's sports lineup similar to those offered by most of its academic peer metropolitan universities. Schools like Cleveland State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Illinois-Chicago and potential new Summit League rivals Missouri-Kansas City and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis play high-level basketball, but they don't offer football."

Fall Graduation is always around the same time, usually that Sunday. So, why can't the Panthers play at the Cell that Saturday? As I said the Panthers of late has always played at the Cell on the 3rd Saturday in December. Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio) & Bradley. So is graduation moved, than in years past?

Dec. 17, I really don't care to much to watch the New Orleans Bowl That being said, I was stunned that the Panthers added a game in late October. I guess they didn't want to play only one game in a 16 day period. (UW 12/13, MU 12/22 & Valpo 12/29) They were looking for a game all summer in this time frame to fill.

After last year's Klotsche debacle, I'm amazed we're going back, although the circumstances are obviously very different. I assume this is just before or right as the exam period is starting, so there will still be students around and maybe the marketing guys can come up with some good attractions to get them in the door.

I suspect the date was chosen to break up a string of rugged games that includes Marquette, Wisconsin, Butler, Valparaiso, Northern Iowa and Western Michigan, with five of them on the road.
