Man, if we put up a first half anywhere close to what we did in the second this would have been a game. First half: 34-15 Wisconsin; second half: 27-25 Milwaukee. Had we made free throws we could have easily outscored them in the second period. Only 6 turnovers in the second half to 9 in the first.
UWM has held an opponent to 28 points or fewer in the second half of 3 of their last 4 games.
Plus some pretty solid defensive discipline from Milwaukee tonight. Wisconsin only shot 12 free throws. Milwaukee took 21.
UWM will never rebound as poorly as they did tonight. Ever. Averaged 39 per game going in, only got 17. Part of it has to do with Hill totally quitting, which is happening at an alarming rate. And Kaylon Williams needs to man up and play like he can.
There's a ton of talent. But a whole lot of quitting. Were it not for Ja'Rob's tone-setting performance, I think we might have lost by 40. At least someone set an example.

We better get use to this. It is like Groundhogs Day. There will be no coaching changes for the next few years. Not with the current contract.

The second half of this game gives me some measure of hope. They played aggressive offense and got to the line even if their shots weren't falling, they played clock-killing defense that got spoiled by great shots from Leuer and Taylor. They gave up in the first half, that much is obvious; but they played with some measure of dignity in the second.
Nobody short of Butler is going to be able to defend Hill like Wisconsin did tonight. Nobody short of Detroit is going to be able to come close to controlling the boards like this either, and like I said, I don't think you'll see a number as absurd as 17 rebounds ever again.

There's a ton of talent. . I don't understand why people keep saying this. We lost to WMU at home, we lost to CSU by 25, we scored 40 points at Madison, we lost to Florida Atlantic, and we got killed by Portland. Milwaukee has pretty much played 2 good halves of ball all year. 1st vs UNI and 2nd half vs Marquette. Well, make it 4. I will give them Niagra but they are terrible.

Thank God for the RPI boost... If we were put together an absurdly talented basketball team that doesn't play high-major teams, they would suffer for the lack of those games. For the sake of future seasons, these games are important. Nobody was questioning games like this after Marquette. Or against Wisconsin last year. Excuse me! no one is talking about Marquette, and I've been against playing Wisconsin for a long time because it DOES US NO GOOD. Unless of course we get paid handsomely

Good thing we had the cheerleaders and mascot there to cheer for the 10 Milwaukee fans in attendance.

There's a ton of talent. . I don't understand why people keep saying this. Hill, Meier, McCallum, Boyle, Allen, Boga. Even Kelm, who's still developing, and Williams, who put up 12/5/4 against Marquette. Doubting our talent is absurd.

You are right Hack. With mediocracy and often appalling game play, why there hasn't been other changes is what baffles me. I feel terrible to say this, but something has to change. I think we need a old veteran coach on the bench who can provide more experience for subbing and in the game situations.

I think we need a old veteran coach on the bench who can provide more experience for subbing and in the game situations. Exactly ... and I can't believe I'm saying this, but pmck was smart when he started out at GB by hiring on Dale Race, a veteran coach from UMD, as an assistant. Instead we have 4-5 coaches all learning on the fly.

I have no idea when this team will win again. It really doesn't appear that it will be anytime soon. How can there be such a lack of leadership, general determination and will to win. Who in the world wants to go see this team when this is displayed so frequently? The best we can get is one good half every few games? Their effort over much of this year has made it extremely difficult to want to follow them.

If doubting the talent is absurd, than what do we doubt? The players drive? The players basketball IQ? The players inability to prepare? The coaching? Or is it simply too early to doubt and hope that things will get better.

Conference season has barely started so things could turn around quickly, but you've got to blame the coaching at this point.

Jesus Christ. I'd rather have a small, loyal fanbase than a bunch of bandwagon-jumpers who can't think logically. If you're claiming McCallum, Hill, Boyle, Meier, Boga, et al aren't talented players you're out of your mind. Stop overreacting.
Hell, we're on the heels of a 20-win season. Ricky and James weren't the only players on that team. Let's have some perspective.
