Wisconsin appears to be a shell of their former selves this season, but I still anticipate a beat-down at the Kohl Center.

I see a beat down too, but who knows. This team isn't bad, it's just wildly inconsistent. Remember what happened after the FAU and WMU games. It depends on if the threes are falling and if Ant can out-muscle his defender. The talent is there, this game is winnable if they play at UCD/Niagara/(maybe) Marquette level.

The problem is that this game is at the Kohl Center. I dunno if I see us pulling a NDSU. It's rough there.

Based upon what I have seen thus far, I put our chances of winning this game somewhere between slim and none...

One team knows the system inside and out and executes it (Badgers) and one team runs around like a chicken with its head cut off (Panthers). This one is over before it even starts.

Given the Panthers' penchant for inconsistency and the similar styles of play, this is probably a 10-point game or less.
Jeff Spicoli might as well have been speaking about this team when he repeatedly uttered:
I DON'T KNOW
Aloha.

"Mr, Hand will I pass your class?" "Gee, Mr. Spicoli, I DON'T KNOW."
I was thinking the same thing: the way this team is, I wouldn't be surprised to see a competitive game. Then again, a 35-point mauling wouldn't surprise me either. I think that's an accurate summation of the Rob Jeter Era.

A team coached by one of Ryan's former assistants will never be submitted to a big beat down by UW. Remember the most recent game at the Cell. On a number of occasions in the second half Wisconsin simply ran out the shot clock or ran the offense for 30 second before taking a shot. After the Badgers have the game in hand Bo will go to the bench and keep it reasonably close. So assuming the Badgers win, the final score of this game likely will not reflect the actual competitiveness of the game.

12-point Wisconsin win. Last year we went to the Kohl and lost by 10. And the last time we were embarrassed at home, we responded with a 3-point (home) loss against Marquette.
As for Wisconsin running the clock down to 5 seconds before taking a shot, that's what they did last year. Far too much, in fact.

Runnng down the shot clock to five seconds is what Milwaukee calls an average possession much too often. A far cry from "blasting the ball up the floor," as Jeter described his philosophy to be upon being hired in 2005.

Runnng down the shot clock to five seconds is what Milwaukee calls an average possession much too often. A far cry from "blasting the ball up the floor," as Jeter described his philosophy to be upon being hired in 2005. It was easy to blast the ball up the floor with Tucker, Davis, et al.

Then why did it take him three months to do it with that group? Go back and read the game threads from the '05-'06 season, specifically the game at Butler. A philosophy doesn't completely change one year to the next. Adapt, perhaps, but not change. Bo Ryan implemented his style year one at UWM. Pearl incrementally put his style in there the first couple years. Jeter is not a full-court, up-tempi coach and never was, despite what he said when he was hired. Whoever bought it is an idiot.

What does "up-tempo" matter? It bears no necessary relationship to winning. Our problem so far this year has nothing to do with our tempo and everything to do with our execution. That aside, the plan this year was to press the ball forward when possible (to go "up-tempo" in spots, as some people would perceive it). Bad decision making and poor defense has compromised that.
The coaches and players have a lot to improve on but tempo isn't a significant issue.
