Kyle Kelm is not a high regarded HS recruit, he's a nice player, but he's a mid-major get through and through.

Before the broken foot, Kyle Kelm had firm scholarship offers from Marquette, Bradley, Green Bay, Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, and Oregon State. When his foot was injured, those scholarships dropped off, mainly because big men typically have a difficult time returning to 100% after foot injuries.
As we all know, Kelm didn't miss a beat his senior season, leading the Rockets to the state's D4 championship. In the title game, he set a record with 9 assists.

Kyle Kelm is not a high regarded HS recruit, he's a nice player, but he's a mid-major get through and through. This is a tough sentiment for me to swallow. What else was Kelm supposed to do his senior year to up his stock besides being the focal point of a team that beat everyone they played? Kelm isn't just a nice player, he's 6'10 nice, that doesn't scream average get to me for the large majority of programs.

Kyle Kelm is highly skilled for his size. Can hit the outside shot, handles the ball well, sees the floor and is a terrific passer. It will all be tougher at the college level but that's true for every recruit. I think he's a kid who has the potential to be a taller AT if he works hard at it. That would be a phenomenal outcome.

With very rare exceptions (and those are players going to Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, etc) I really don't take much stock in how "regarded" a HS player is.
The world is full of players, in every sport, who exceeded expectations. And it is just as full of those who never met theirs.
A successful franchise or program identifies more of the former and less of the latter.

Kelm should be a 4 year starter with his skills at UWM. At Marquette, UW or any other good high major programs he would be biding his time waiting for his chance to play.

At UW, Kyle would sit behind Leuer for a year.
He would be a misfit piece at Marquette.
Here, I hesitate to anoint even the highest-rated recruits as four-year starters.

Bigs more often than not aren't ready to play big minutes early on at the college level. While I think he will be a good player I would be hesitant to say he should be starting as a true freshman.

ok... we will see....without the broken foot problem bet he would have been This is exactly why here is a mid major player. If a player didnt have any "warts" then they would be at a high major. This does not mean that he does not have high major talent but until he shows it game in and game out at the D1 level its all speculation.

Anybody know where Chim Kadima went? I know ND State offered but I don't recall him signing.

He's headed to a prep school, and is said to be doing really well. My guess is he'll garner some high major offers following prep school.
