Thank god this home season is over. It was painful. It was a bad team playing bad basketball. Wow, I just receive my Panther Fund info.....talk about great timing, receiving it at the end of woeful season. Hopefully the adminstration learned something too. Let's move on. Now, lets try and end the season on a positive note. A first round win in the HL tourney would be great. Brucie looked great in his orange blazer. The crowd looked like they were having a great time too, unlike the few fans who showed up at Panther games this year. I guess it could be worse. RIP Terry Stotts. what do you hope/expect the adminstration to learn?

And when we played UWGB on ESPN2 our fans looked like they were having fun too...not to say they aren't enjoying themselves in Knoxville, but TV games tend to bring out the bandwagon fans. I too am hoping for a turnaround and at least a first round win...Just hoping

Most of our players looked sleepy and sluggish last night, which was borne out by the lack of rebounds. The three who most aggressively went after the rebounds were Massiah, Ricky, and Marcus; Paige seemed unable to move even 1 or 2 feet to get the ball when it bounced right in front of him. Yet Jeter kept Skinner on the bench and Paige in the game, although Paige did not come to life (again) until the second quarter. What bothers me most overall is tha Jeter seems to have some plan that he sticks with even though the reality is not fitting the plan -- like Paige just not making an effort. We are fans and will buy season tickets next year, but our concerns are less with the individual players than with the overall tendency to keep people in play (like Al or Paige) and not put in others who could contribute more.

I couldn't agree more bigcat. Like I said in my post after last night's game. Al was a defensive liability b/c when he would get caught in a switch on defense and get stuck guarding Schilb...it was just too easy for Schilb to post him up. And it's not like Al was having a huge night shooting the ball, so why NOT get him out of there for someone with at the very least more size...? And I'd really like to ask Jeter if he thinks that Paulsen is a legitimate 4. He seems to not like the banging and roughness that goes along with being a 4 and has a really tough time overcoming being rattled when he gets knocked around early. I personally think that Paige is more of a 3, than a 4. But maybe I'm wrong and I'm sure there are plenty of poster on here who think I am indeed wrong. Either way, last night's game was a tough one to watch.

Loyola only beat us by 10? Wow, we got lucky. I would say that the final score was not indicative of the entire game. Not sure what the largest lead was, but it had to have been 20 points at one point.

I don't think he is a 4, but being the tallest guy on the team at 6-7 besides Mauldin who never plays, what choice have we got.
The largest lead was 16

It was never really close in my mind. And as freak put it...they got lucky by the final score only being 10. They still lost though and up until about 5 minutes into the 1st half, I thought this was a game that they could possibly win. It's too bad they didn't. I'm with you on Paulsen playing the 4 don. I don't think he's a 4 and I think he's uncomfortable doing so and it shows. I realize the options are limited and I also realize that RJ is trying to stick with his coaching philosophy to try and win games, but at this point in the season, I wouldn't mind seeing a line-up of Skinner, Massiah and Paulsen (with Paulsen playing the 3) and then 2 guards. I know this limits RJ's ability to sub for bigs a little bit, but for 5-7 minutes a game I think it'd be interesting to see.

Yes, thats why I hope Joe Allen is the real deal, so we can slide Paige down to 3 and Torre in at 4 next year.

What some just don't stop to think about, Sam didn't get recruited by so many D1 schools just because he is big. He is not the big oaf that some people imply he is. He is a skilled player who, although may have been slow on the UWM system in the beginning, can contribute more than some who are out there over 20 minutes. If you look at his minutes, he has great stats compared to those who start. Those who are on the bench alot are not even given enough time on the floor to even get warmed up. Not just Sam. Look at Ryan, Jason and others. How can this coaching staff expect any more than they are getting when bench players get a few fleeting seconds and are pulled right away. They are getting exactly what they are asking for (albeit, they may not think or know so). And then some of those who post just whine. Come on! Grow up and support your team through thick and thin! I am not talking about all of you, but get a grip!

well said uwmbbwatcher. i really hoped Sam would play more this season. players don't get better by sitting on the bench. they need game time to learn and improve. since our season wasn't the greatest this year, it would've been nice to use the bench more.

Exactly! This season is all but over. Now, don't get me wrong, it would be great to get somewhere in the league tournament. But, with what is left of the regular season, why not give some players a little more experience.

Who's whining?
I would love Sam to play, but the coaches have obviosly given up on him this year. We are tied right now with 2 other teams for 6th place. We need to win to get a home game in the tourney. They're not gonna roll out the 3rd string now, especially when most of the current starters are probably going to be starting next year as well.

What they are doing now is not working. Last night they could have played them. Yes, I also hope for a win to get a home game in the tournament.
