Guys,
I applaud and commend all of you for coming out and supporting our team this season. If there was ever a game where they needed more support, it is the one coming up a week from today.
In my honest assessment, the loss to Green Bay hurt the morale of this team, because it was not on neutral grounds (officiating took over). While our team did not play well initially, their "never say die" attitude took a beating that game, and I fear we have seen the results of this the last three games since (CSU, Butler, and WSU).
While we all know that Coach Jeter and his staff will be hard at work on the guys in preparation for this game, I think it is our responsibility as fans to show up, in strong numbers, to give our guys the help that only we as fans can give. Our support right now is critical, because if we can end this season on a high note, it will do wonders going into the offseason and beyond.
I ask that you bring some friends to the game...hell as many as you can! Those on this board who are students, talk the game up to your compadres, and get them to commit to going as well. Let's all pledge to do what we can to allow these guys to walk out on the court to a nice crowd, and warm reception. Let's also give Kevin and Nick a warm sendoff-their service to this team warrants it.
It's all about [glow=red,2,300]PANTHER PRIDE[/glow]...we all have it...let's continue to show it!

I think that a crowd of 3,500 is a realistic objective for the Loyola game on Feb. 14. It's a Wednesday night and people will have plenty of other things on their mind.

I think we win next Wednesday, and can hopefully sneak into a home game for the Horizon tourney. I'm afraid one home game between Jan. and next late Nov./early Dec. would be too much out of sight-out of mind for some fans. Not for me, I'd just like to see us win a 1st rnd game at home, which we easily could do.

I actually think 2500 is going to be a much more realistic number on Valentine's Day for an awful team.

We could pull a Marquette and announce the attendance at 7,000. I went to the MU game last night because my buddy got some free lower bowl tickets and MU announced the attendance at 17,000+ (now I see how they were in the top 20 for attendance last year). The crowd was no larger than 10 grand. Before any MU fans respond, I understand UWM's attendance is terrible this year and I would almost anything including naked suicides for pmck if UWM could draw over 7,000 per game for an entire season, but come on your 11th in the nation. Then on my drive into work this morning Doug Russell was talking about how great the attendance was last night.

by the way, if you're still getting ready for the game, 1 - hurry up 2 - don't wear your gold tonight (and hopefully there won't be a gold t-shirt giveaway like there was when we hosted Loyola last season)

What a way to honor the seniors for (potentially) their last home game in a UWM uniform...
An uninspired, lackluster effort. Highlighted by poor play from, well, just about everybody.
And before anyone goes off about how well someone played...
I know, I know Thornton had a few 3's, but he is slower to react and move, on defense than Paulsen and does he EVER dribble to create some space...? The answer is hardly-freaking-ever!
Anyway, not trying to hate on Ryan...sans his shooting they would have had an even more dreadful night.
Bottom line, in my opinion, is that this team is done. Tonight they looked like they were just waiting for the final buzzer to go off so they could get the hell out of there. I sure hope I am proved wrong, but like I said, tonight they looked as though they just didn't want it...at ALL!!
The effort was better in the 2nd half, but not near where it needs to be to beat a slighty above average team like Loyola.
Another thing I noticed about tonight's game...Al Hanson was a defensive liability. I counted at least 3, maybe even 4 times, that he was guarding Schilb because of a switch that occurred with Franklin and Schilb posted up, easily turned around and 2 points.
I realize not much can be done when a switch happens, but I noticed it happened too much tonight. Schilb, for as much of a slack-ass as he can be at times, presented a match-up problem tonight on numerous occasions and nothing seemed to be done about it.
This team needs to try and finish strong. For their own confidence, for the fact that you should always play to win and for momentum going into the HL tourney.

That could not have been any worse.
I know that Blount and Polka had no interest in UWM, but every time I see them play, I get really pissed. Hell you can throw Cotton into that mix as well. Polka is going to be an absolute beast. Flowers vs Polka for the next 3 years is going to be fun to watch.
Ugly game for UWM, horribly played by UWM, and horribly officiated. I am kind of glad Nighthawk wasn't there. He may have blown something with the yelling he would have done.
Happy Valentine's Day...Ugh!

Thank god this home season is over. It was painful. It was a bad team playing bad basketball. Wow, I just receive my Panther Fund info.....talk about great timing, receiving it at the end of woeful season. Hopefully the adminstration learned something too. Let's move on. Now, lets try and end the season on a positive note. A first round win in the HL tourney would be great. Brucie looked great in his orange blazer. The crowd looked like they were having a great time too, unlike the few fans who showed up at Panther games this year. I guess it could be worse. RIP Terry Stotts.

Ugly day for b-ball in the brew: Celtics 117, Bucks 97 Not sure about this. 1 step closer to Oden, and one HUGE step to getting Stotts canned. All is not too bad in brew town for sports fans.

I thought Blount wanted out of the state and never heard the name Polka come up anywhere involving UWM.
I take that back, I just looked into the Polka threads on here. Just unlucky I guess...

I have personally seen Polka at more than ten UWM games while he was in high school. I know his cousin and he had great interest in playing for Pearl. Blount also was interested in playing for Pearl. Let's just say their interest was more in BP than UWM. I think we could have had Polka but not Blount. Yes, eventually, Blount wanted to go out of state.
Means nothing now.
