Yeah, when Tom Crean's forehead is made fun of nightly during the NCAA tournament in Jay Leno's monologue, come back and talk to us.
You're just a poor man's Notre Dame, without any appeal.
And don't give us this bullsh*t about money problems. Your basketball team is 90% of your AD income? Well dip into some alumni pockets and pay for what you need.

Marquette bigger than Wisconsin? I love how MU fans continually prove their inferiority complex. Wisconsin is and has been the much bigger name in basketball for years now. Oops, I forgot about the late 70s. Sorry crazyfred, I forgot how that was just yesterday.

you guys are SOOOO right! Where did my memory go! I forgot all about the fact that we didn't go to the final four in 2003 and we didn't have a former player just named nba finals mvp whose school was mentioned almost 3 times a game... OH WAIT.... WE DID! Now come up with some more revisionist history...
P.S. we also have the Big East's Freshman of the Year...

Here is the part I just fail to get out of all this. If in fact there was a deal sitting on Bud's desk for the past several years, and Bud and Bruce along with the media was busy "dragging MU through the mud" on this topic, why didn't Crean or Cords just step up and say, hey by the way, the deal is in their desk so stop saying we dont want to play them. Rather, you heard things such as the "logistics aren't right at this time" or "we have nothing really gain by playing them".
From the little I actually understand of what is going on behind the scenes, this appers to be about dollars, and if things do not add up for us to play MU then there is no reason we should. If MU does not want to have to bring in a buy game instead of have us on the schedule then maybe they could loosen their greedy grip and make this a more attractive offer for us to take financially.

Fran, you guys been offered multiple opportunities for 4 for 1 series going back several years. Ball's in your court. You can spin this anyway you want. We got tired of playing it quiet in the press while Bud, Bruce and Bo pounded the radio and newspaper "journalists" begging for games. You have a 4 for 1.....are you going to take this 5 game series or not? Fairly simple. When will you get it through your head that Marquette's name isn't anywhere near as big as Wisconsin's,and you guys do not deserve anywhere in the neighborhood of 4-1? Coldwind...what happened to "we'll play them anytime, any place, anywhere"...the famous words of Bud Haidet and Bruce Pearl? I guess you got cold feet then. Sounds like more excuses from you guys. We give you five games and now you're crapping about what we are offering. Typical. I feel bad for Rob...great guy that I enjoyed working with at MU. Sounds like Bud hasn't changed. It would be a shame if you guys didn't take the gig, because this would probably be the last offer (and it should be).

LOL That's the funniest thing I've ever seen posted on here. Marquette bigger than Wisconsin? Good stuff. You guys are great. Keep stopping by. Depends what the criteria is. In the last 8 years, UW has had a great ride. Considering the previous 54 years they couldn't make the NCAAs...well you get the point. Street and Smith's all time top 100 programs listed last year....MU finished 25 spots higher than UW. But hey, if we weren't that big I wonder why there are so many threads here dedicated to ripping on MU and never on UW. You sure do care a lot about us for a team that is 35-0 against you (that's what your SID says, ours says 34-0).

Teddy...simple. Because we took the high road, something that Bruce was incapable of. Just another reason why Bruce is despised by so many in the coaching industry. You've had an offer for over 20 months. "We'll play you any time, any place, anywhere"....oh really. OK Bud, we're waiting.

Why would it be a shame? It seems like many MU fans claim they dont care if they play us and many of our fans dont care much if we play MU. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago when Pearl was here and had people fired up about this people cared. He's gone and so is the feeling that we should play MU. We can do just fine it seems with playing teams from other conferences.
If this happens great, I am sure it will work out to be a deal that is good for both schools, if not both programs will move on and likely talks will take place on this topic from time to time again. This offer probably will not be the "last one" nor should it be.

So let me get this right....MU went from the "high road" now down the the level of Pearl in a matter of 20 months? Right, if that does not smell of B.S. I dont know what does. If not B.S. then at the very least a desperate messaure by Crean and Cords to try and make someone happy by making this public all of a sudden. Sorry, I just cant buy this idea that MU has had an open offer to Milwaukee to play for the past 20 months and never defended themselves on this topic. In fact they still are not, just you and a few of the MU people that drop in from time to time are now saying this since this "deal" has been made public in the past few weeks.

You seem to forget that UW went to the Final 4 in 1999 or 2000, whichever year was Dick Bennett's last. UW also leads the all-time series between the two schools and sells out every game. they also have one of the most intimidating arenas to play at in the country.

Coldwind...what happened to "we'll play them anytime, any place, anywhere"...the famous words of Bud Haidet and Bruce Pearl? What happend? well half of that duo is now in the SEC and from those w/in Jeter's staff that i've talked to, they don't hold that same mentality.

When I think of college basketball history, MU comes to mind and UW really does not. But when it comes to recent success UW is the one that comes to mind. MU had the nice run in 03 (?), but other than that is there anything else recently?

Ok, for future reference, MUGold2007 seems to be a MU version of everyone's favorite poster, Halo. just remember these words when reading his posts... "Marquette fan here. I would like to apologize for MUwarrior2007. He is an idiot, plain and simple. Disregard everything that he says. He only exists to make other people hate him. Many of the people at the Marquette boards wish that he did not represent our school because of his poor reputation, lack of respect for others, and penchant for angering fans of opposing teams." - MKE uwmfreak.proboards5.com/index.cgi?board=Games&action=display&n=1&thread=2790&page=3

We have been hammered in the press for 3 years on this stupid series. We were not going to play with that prick at the helm in Pearl....at least early on. At the end we gave a 4 for 1 deal and nothing came of it. We did again 14 months ago...nothing came of it...all of this OUTSIDE OF THE PRESS. Guess what, we finally (thank God) went to the press and said "look, we're offering 4 for 1"...it was a move that Cords and Crean should have gone to the press months ago, but they didn't. Turnabout is fair play. Just so you know, Rob wants this series. Rob is a competitor and willing to take the 4 for 1. It's others that are not. We just find it amazing after years and years of b****ing and b****ing and b****ing from you guys, we give you 5 games and low and behold...YOU'RE STILL b****ING. It never ends. Take the deal or shut up. By going to the press, the onus is now on you guys. "Any time, any place, anywhere"....oh really? Let's see it.

Pantherholic...your memory needs to be refreshed then. UW has 2 Final Fours in their history and one title (Marquette 3 Final Fours). The title came when only 8 teams went to the dance..1941...meaning 1 win got you to the final four and 3 wins the championship. MU has a championship as well....when color television was actually invented. MU, meanwhile has 24 NCAA appearances (UW has 12), MU has 39 post season appearances total (9th in NCAA history), MU has 3 Final Fours (UW 2), MU has 6 Elite Eights (UW 3), MU has 14 Sweet 16's (UW has 4). Please, the comparison between the two is laughable on a national scene. Get outside your Wisconsin mindset and your bias. Your memory needs a refresher. And yes, UW does sell out their arena...it's Madison...40000 students, alumni all over the capital and nothing else to do. No pro sports to compete with, nothing. They should be selling out every game, what the hell else is there to do in Madison in January other than watch the nightly police blotters for the next UW football, basketball or hockey player that gets arrested and "suspended" from practice for a punishment.
