Talked to Messiah, Holt and Young's GF. Messiah's projection was:
Paulsen Messiah Young Rick Hanson
Avo could start one of the guard spots and Skinner could take over for Paulsen. I was as baffled as everyone reading this on the Young pick. It could be that he was just saying that since Young's gf was right there. But it has to be noted that Young hasn't been thrown to the curb by his teammates. Messiah also wasn't too sure if Rick was the starter but he did say he was "real good". When asked about Bendall, Messiah seemed to think Bendall's playing time would be limited.

I am ashamed to admit this but I had forgotten about Massiah, probably because out of no where he fell of the map last year. He could make a good addition to the front court.

I have tended to leave Massiah out because he seemed to fall from Jeters grace (just my opinion) at the end of the year last year. I would love to see him and Young be able to give us big minutes, that would allow guys like Skinner, Swiggett, Gentry, Thornton, etc to grow into their roles and develope more. I really think we will see Thornton redshirted to give him more time to mature as a player. He was a late bloomer which means he has the potential to really grow as a player in the next few years.

I agree completely with the redshirting of Thornton. If ANYONE on this team proves they can shoot the ball from deep they will redshirt Thornton, if not they may be forced to play him.

Gee, Messiah listed himself as a starter. Surprise! Actually I am, from watching his play last year I would say his biggest problem was being too timid and not taking it to the hole, he would pass the ball off just about everytime he got a touch...maybe from a lack of confidence. Maybe now he is determined to be more assertive and take it to the hole more.
I don't see Young as a starter. The guy was a huge disappointment, not because of his lack of athleticism, but mainly because he has no knowledge of the game...no basketball smarts. He never learned. He went to a junior college where he depended on his athleticism. that is not enough in Div I b-ball. And from my observations he is not the brightest bulb. I doubt he is yet learned the Panthers offense. I doubt in one years time he has learned how to play the game of basketball.

i wouldn't be all too surprised if Massiah starts. yeah he seemed hesitant last year, maybe b/c he hadn't adjusted to D1 ball yet but i've heard from those close to the team that he's made some great strides w/ his game and considering he does have some experience under his belt, he's a viable candidate. an increase in confidence and aggressiveness in his game will definitely help. Young i don't see starting but apparently he's been working hard on his game too. he's pretty much become a gym rat.

It had to have been difficult for him to find his game with Joah, Boo, AT, Chris Hill, etc...wanting the rock to do there thing. All that I'm saying is let's give Messiah the benefit of the doubt here and not base this year's expecatations on last year. He was one of Jeter's, maybe even the first recruit for last year. He's got to have some offensive game.

This new recruit of ours, a center who would be eligible in the fall, is so mean that he took a ball offered to him by a worker at the Pavilion and swatted it back in her face. He's transferring from a school that has changed affiliations.

Yes...tall and big, and reportedly has some skills. I won't say more, as to not jinx the situation, but let's all keep our fingers crossed.

A school that has changed affiliations?
I would love to have this team add another big that has some skills to add some frontcourt depth to this team.
