I agree, seven assists is an absolute farce. We also missed some easy layups and put-backs in the last few minutes of the game. McCoy's missed layup off the steal with a couple minutes left was huge.

It was said before that next year we will be lucky if we score 50, I completely disagree. Young continues to become more and more comfortable with the offense and AVO put together a hell of a game today. Massiah will be the man next year which I have no problem with at all. Swiggett is the point guard on the #1 team in the nation and Franklin can score with the best of them. Everyone seems to be forgetting about Kaylan Anderson as well. Their is a reason he was redshirted, because he is going to be a play maker and Jeter didnt want to waste a year of him sitting on the bench. Hanson will be a nice complimentary piece much like Hill is now and I think Paulsen will fill in nicely. This doesnt even count the three remaining scholarships we have left. I expect a top 3 finish in conference next year with a chance to win the conference tourney. Maybe I am the only on who thinks like this but Jeter is a hell of a recruiter and I have all the faith in the world in him

Young continues to become more and more comfortable with the offense 0-4 and 4 fouls in about 10-12 minutes. If by more comfortable you mean hitting the rim with shots. At this stage of his career, he is terrible. I don't understand everyone getting excited when he plays because from what I have seen he is a dnp-cd more often than not. That should mean something.

Things that jumped out at me after today...
1. Kid gets kicked out of our student section for honestly smoking weed during the game. Love the ESPN game students.
2. No matter how close we got, never had the feeling that we could pull it out...gross feeling.
3. Don't want my last year at UWM to be finished with an NIT appearance. We need to rally and somehow pull this out. I love our team too much to end like this.

I don't see a top 3 finish next year at all. Young hasn't shown anything at this level, Massiah looks the part but he hasn't shown me he can take over for Joah. Kaylan might be good, but he didn't outplay Avo to see the court this year. Franklin, Swiggett, Harris, and Paulsen could be very good players, but its unreal to expect them to be great players from the beginning. This team has too many holes to fill to be competing for the championship next season.
This team will be very young next season so look for us to be battling to stay around the .500 mark in conference.

To defend myself, not that any of you are wrong with your opinions. I believe our team will be better thaneveryone except for UWGB and Detroit and Loyola maybe but even they never seem to perform in the clutch. Every other team in this conference loses people or doesnt have anything impressive to begin with. My belief is that many of the guys in this system who are struggling now will benefit from an entire summer in the system. Also next year everyone on the team almost is a Jeter guy. I think alot of the reason were not living up to our potential is because there not completely buying into the system.I love JT and Boo but neither of them is following the system. Tucker is to busy trying to prove he can shoot from the outside and Boo tends to shoot to early in the shot clock. With all that said I believe we can make it to the tourney and get a win when Tigert gets back.

For the most part I think we'll be OK, but I just don't believe in Young at this point.

I know there could be a whole surplus of young players, hell even some freshman starters, but in this league I really don't think that'll hurt too bad. Yes, it will be tough, but Ricky Franklin is worth the wait.

The good
1) 6600 people show up on the coldest day we've had this winter and yell their lungs out 2) Jason Mc Coy 3) Outrebounding a taller team
The Bad
1) Not executing the swing offense, again no one was posting up, no one was cutting 2) Selfish play - Avo running down the court with a trailer who was unguarded then realizing he couldn't make it to the hoop and finally passing off too late is one example but there are others 3) Poor passes, lazy passes, incredibly bad passes
The Ugly
1) The refs. Did anyone else notice Asst AD, Jason Clark, talking to one of the refs and pointing down to the line repeatedly? There were some incredibly bad out of bounds calls, jump ball calls and no calls. 2) The disappointment - After the game I heard a few people say that it didn't matter what we did those refs weren't going to let us win. At times it really did seem that way. Especially the out of bounds calls when we could have gotten within two and no way was the call legit. 3) The press - We DID press most of the game but MO State managed to break it often enough leading to easy baskets 4) The defense in the paint - I counted three easy buckets when Ford was looking the other way instead of seeing the guy next to him was unguarded and under the hoop.
Bottom line is that this is a game we could've and should've won. Nothing to be done now but suck it up and keep supporting the guys. They've lost 4 out of 6 and that's not good heading into the tourney.
Recognize that they played with their hearts (but not their heads) and give them credit for not giving up.

Those out of bounds at the end were outragous. They had a huge impact on the game and they were very questionable. I had a great view and Joah's feet were at least 12 inches in bounds. What, did they think this is like the endzone in football, where all you have to do is break the plane at any height above the ground with the ball?
Another positive: How about the guy in Sec 106 with the chicken suit...that is bringin' it!!

It was a good game today between two good teams. I wish your team luck the rest of the way and if you can get into the tourney I'll definitely be pulling for you guys. I did want to respond to this post though. I know as fans you see the game with your hearts and not always with your head, but I find it hard to believe you think it's a game you should've won when you led once the entire game and most of the rest of the game it was at least a 6-9 lead for the Bears. Not smack talking, just a legit question. Panther fan would really complain about the officials in this game? It appeared to me that they were inconsistent for both teams, which would pretty much be a wash. FWIW, the fans of other teams that post about the games on our boards thought the officials were keeping the Panthers in the game. Funny how perception is on that I suppose. The reasons the press was more successful at the end of games is that the Bears try too hard IMO to get the ball into Ahearn when they know the other team has to foul. This causes bad passes in spots that are not ideal once the ball cannot get to Ahearn safely, so they must throw it to whomever is open as quickly as possible. They should rely on all their players better IMO. The Panthers were a more athletic team, but in every other phase it seemed the Bears had them in this game. As one other poster has stated, it never really seemed as though UW-M would win. That doesn't seem like a game that you "should" have won. In any event, thanks to those fans who visited our board and good luck against Detroit. Shut Cotton down and you're good to go. Good luck the rest of the season, and I hope you're in the dance this year!

Yes the refs were inconsistent but...
Calling the fifth foul on Mc Coy when his only offense seemed to be letting his stomach get in the way of the Bears elbow...
Calling Joah out of bounds when we had a run going and he's at least a foot on the good side...
Calling Davis out of bounds when he is up in the air...
Calling Davis for a foul when again all he did was get in the way of an elbow...
Calling a ball for MO State when it was in their control and the guy bounce it over the end line...
And those are just the ones I remember off hand. And ALL of them happened as UWM gathered momentum and stopped our runs.
We can all understand inconsistency, we can all understand non calls but it's hard to understand calls like those. It's not like it takes an judgement when someone bounces the ball over the line to give it to the other team. And it's even harder to take when they stop runs at an opponent.
No offense guy, you have a very impressive team but some of those call were as others put it huge.
I'm a season ticket holder and so are the people around me. Most of the time they don't say much about refs but even they were saying there was no way those refs were going to let us get closer than 4 points because everytime we got that close there was another unbelieveable call. Maybe it was just coincidence, but in the heat of battle it sure didn't seem that way to a lot of people.
Still we should have and could have won if we hadn't missed so many easy shots and had played our normal offense.

I would be surprised if fans started to blame the refs. I'm not saying that you are, but there were bad calls for MSU as well.
I watched the game on TV, so that's a different perspective for sure, and they certainly didn't say anything about the players not being out of bounds and the announcers definitely were pro-Panthers.
Foul calls are always disputed, I noticed there were no disputed foul calls by you on fouls called against the Bears.
I certainly don't want it to turn into a debate on the officials, there is no debating they certainly called an inconsistent game.
My beef came from saying it was a game that "should" have been won when the game was rarely closer than 6 points the entire game. It just seemed like a slap against the Bears, and I'm sure you'd stand up for your boys as well.
Your team showed heart today, you have a good team that I hope makes it this year.
