When Pearl recruited Hanson, did he get him and Blount mixed up? Major mistake watching him go to an in-conference rival. Pearl offered Blount. Blount selected Loyola. What are you going to do.

yeah, but the refs were calling so much who knows. i dont think that jeter should have pulled tucker out in the last 3 minutes-with the game being that close we needed him. got the w though.

Hanson wasn't picked over Blount. Rather, Blount thought it was better for him to leave the area.

Hanson originally signed with someone else and came here after the coach got fired

That attendance number of 5,000 seems inflated

Just frustrating seeing home grown talent go elsewhere. Hopefully Franklin or Swiggett will step in next year and make this a non issue.

I think the attendance was close to that. There were more students than we had on Saturday.

I think that number's legit. JR played a strong game - he looked like he was in some serious pain in the second half. Al may not have scored as much, but I think he did a nice job running the point when he was in the game tonight. He looked for his shot when it was open and had good awareness of the shot clock when it was running down. That dunk by Massiah was AWESOME.

My two cents: Is it just me or does anyone else remember how well Jason McCoy defended Blake Schilb last year during the conference tournament? Schilb started the game on fire but once Jason took the defensive assignment, Schilb was done. I believe he ended up with 12 points. McCoy could defend him off the dribble and was soooo long that Schilb had a hard time shooting over him from the outside. He basically gave him fits. Joah did OK, but Schilb definitely had a few open looks and it was more about him missing than Joah locking him down. I wonder if the coaching staff even looked at last year's game. ALSO: Was Rain Pryor from "Head of the Class" suited up for the Ramblers tonight? I didn't have a program but I think her number was #34.

We have trouble closing out teams early. Its a problem, cant get past being up by 10. I expect a loss soon, lets hope its to a team with a decent RPI. We need a good pick for bracket buster (and an at large is still within grasp).
Student section received a D- tonight. It had more size, but is so quiet. The left right left chant however is good, and needs to continue. But, there are so many quiet minutes from the students and no original cheers. Are there any leaders who will step up?
Go Panthers. Lets crush UWGB, Saturday says a lot for Bracket Buster and an at large from a national audience!
Later, UWMfreak

I am in bum f* no where Indiana at some hotel/casino for a staff retreat. I got to watch the game online (although it cost me 9.95 for internet access). I was doing the left, right chant in the hotel room. But to be honest that is one of the few chants I heard. The internet broadcast was nice, but a few bandwith problems and not so clear signal keeps me from commenting on the performance of the team. I think JR Blount looked pretty good for a freshman. And Blake Schilb is only what,.... a sophmore??? They have some good years coming.

while the officiating was bad all night, it really became one-sided towards the end of the game. how they were able to get 3 or 4 points each drive is beyond me but that LU's PFs should've been called for at least 10 more fouls is complete b.s. we also were terrible in our defense around the basket in the end. that was painful to watch.

Few quick thought.......
1. Steve Skiles and crew were absolutely HORRIBLE - period! I am not saying they favored us or LU, as I think we both got screwed at times, but they were flat out sickening - both ways!
2. Attendence seems a bit high - I thought there were more people there against Butler.....but who knows. Both were good crowds.
3. LU is going to be very good in the next few years.
4. LU played a pretty good game, IMHO.
5. Joah - doh - while he scored 20, I think it was in our best interest that he sat at the end. It was good that RJ stuck to his guns and sat him after some of the plays he made (i.e. missed dunk, failure to step out on the high screen allowing Schlib to hit a three from the top, etc. - all of which were very big plays at key times in the game).
6. AT had an all around tough night (shooting, officiating, mentally (it look like at least), but I expect him to bounce back and have a big game against GB.
7. I liked what McCoy did last night.

all i can say is thank goodness we came out with a W. that game should have NEVER been that close. while LU has some nice players, we had them handled for most of the night and then came the meltdown. again, i hope they learn some lessons from this one.
the officiating just plain stunk on both ends. truly disgusting to witness.
pretty nice crowd for break. i thought the number listed was accurate. it actually sounded like the tournament in the closing minutes when every got nervous and forced to really get into the game. i'd agree with Freak though, the student section, while nicely attended was WAY too quiet. we need the leaders in there to really start to take charge.
all in all, i was most impressed by Jeter sitting Tucker in the final 2 minutes with the game on the line. it was a statement to Tucker and a statement to the team... you better keep your head in the game or you're gonna sit, no matter what name you have on the back of your jersey. bravo coach Jeter.
let's hope they come out with some urgency against GB on the road. should be fun to watch.
