I don't know if anyone else has notice but Loyola is definitely going to be a tough game. Granted Butler is on a roll, but the Loyola could be the sleeper of the league this year. They've got solid per. shooting and can take the ball away -- I think there inside game needs work, but the team seems to be clicking -- If we want to go undefeated the rest of the way -- We should watch out for this team -- Any Thoughts?

I don't know about that-- they aren't as tough as their record indicates. We will see though on thursday what they got. They are no where near the shooters we are. We have better free throw shooters and 3-point shooters. Othyus Jeffers #12 is someone to watch though, he plays big and leads the team in blks. He does though tend to get into foul trouble (2.8 per game). He is also the worst free throw shooter (44.2%) on the team.

Loyola is probably the second best team in the conference this year due to some of the injuires to Detroit. Schilb is always a tough match up and they have some size which can create problems, just has not yet for us this year. They also have a freshman forward (his name slips my mind) who has put up some solid numbers for them that looks like he gives them a nice spark of the bench.

I don't know if you could call them the sleeper team of the Horizon League. Weren't they picked by many publications to come in second and third? If a team is a sleeper, it's because they are performing much better than expectations and can upset higher-projected teams.

Nearly every pub I saw had them third so that would not make them a sleeper.
Off to drink in the new year!

They've dropped their last three. They are going to come into the Cell fired up. This is going to be a tough game for sure.

I don't know where Loyola went bad...but they stink right now.
Hopefully they don't get it going in Milwaukee

I was surprised to check the latest Horizon scores and see Loyola have lost all three of their last three. They didn't really play anyone pre-season (yes, Purdue at Purdue, but Purdue hasn't been "Purdue" for a few years now) and now have lost to some questionable Horizon League teams.
I would venture to guess unless a slump occurs, the Horizon #1 seed is ours for the taking. Butler could be the exception here, but Loyola's dropped three games, we've beaten UIC at UIC and Detroit has been mediocre.

Don't count out anyone yet. Detroit could get hot, so could Butler and Loyola could right the ship.

Yes, we must be looking at every game as a potential upset, and the conference season is much too young to say one team or another will not separate itself from the pack and go head to head with the Panthers.
Loyola is a tough game. Reeling or rolling, the Ramblers are DANGEROUS. We need EVERYONE we can get in town to get down to the Cell. Unlike the Butler game, which I was angry I couldn't get on the radio at my work, I will be at the Cell, loud, and more obnoxious than I already am. If ANYONE needs a ride or something, send me a message, we need to make sure the Panther Faithful get to this game.

loyola is a great example of why you shouldn't play a majority of cupcakes in non-conference play. now they have to struggle to regain confidence and hopefully salvage the season. UConn also falls into this catagory ie. loss to MU. we'll see if MUs non-con comes back to bite them or not.

well, i'm tired of reviewing the Butler posts so it seems time to move forward. this is an interesting matchup wednesday night. LU is reeling from their conference losses... as a result i could see this game going a couple of different ways. no doubt the Ramblers will come out swinging, but i'd like to believe after saturday's near shocker that Milwaukee got a wake up call without the "L." Jeter has plently to get on his team about. most notably, the total lack of bench support. hopefully that was just an aberration. we need Massiah, Young, and Avo to step it up.
i hope we see a decent turn out wednesday night. we did ok last saturday but the student's presence was certainly missing. i know it's break but you'd sure like to see bigger numbers. i guess we got spoiled with all those large student turnouts during school.
