Good time to start tracking what are likely to be a LOT of changes to the roster between this year and next.
So as of now (2/21/22) I believe the following are confirmed departures (correct me if I'm wrong):
KANE (Left team) THOMAS (Exhausts eligibility)
The following are presumed departures:
GHOLSTON (Was included in senior salute, although I think it's possible he could take a grad year... somewhere.) BALDWIN, JR. (NBA) BOL (His eligibilty history is complicated, but he's listed as a "Graduate." I don't think he has any eligibility left but others may know better.)
We already know based on Baldwin's previous four seasons that there will be additional unplanned roster turnover after the season ends. I suspect that will accelerate this time. His lame duck status will be deadly to retention and recruiting. Our AD has pointed this out as a rationale for dismissal previously, but I guess she cared about that more back then. Anyway, use this thread to list departures and additions. I know we had one or two high school commits but I don't remember who they are. Obviously, it's an open question at this point whether they will matriculate.

Maybe if he is released more players would be likely to stay than leave ironically!!!!!

Joey St. Pierre was also included in the "Senior Day" festivities. It's likely that he's exploring ALL options.

No one can convince me that there aren't 60 players that are more talented and draftable than PBJ. I don't believe, and never have, that he will be drafted. I believe it less now than I ever have! You'd have to be the worst GM in the NBA, with a hope of getting fired, to draft such a fraud.

I could care less about the roster.
I want one change. That is a new coach. PERIOD.
From there let them build up something, but if it's like any other year, a number of guys who can go somewhere will, others will stay because they dont have the options.

Who cares about the roster at this point. Whether it’s a new coach or not is the only thing that matters. But here’s my list on players I want returning: Newby

Caring about next year's roster is last on my list. I would like to see guys like Newby, Hancoack & Browning back.

No matter the coach the players are still extremely important. This program desperately needs better talent as well as a better coach. There are some guys on the current roster it would be nice to have back. More likely we’ll keep guys who have no options.
Tracking the inevitable departures will also, I hope, increase the pressure on the University to step in and do something about this ongoing dumpster fire.

I could care less about the roster. I want one change. That is a new coach. PERIOD. From there let them build up something, but if it's like any other year, a number of guys who can go somewhere will, others will stay because they dont have the options. Amanda Braun hired Pat Baldwin. If you take her at her word that she did not push for TJ and instead made the hire of LaVall Jordan, you can see what he has done at Butler (nearing the end of his third losing season in 5 years). Amanda Braun agreed to offer Pat Baldwin a year extension on his contract when his record to that point was 37-58 (.389). If you say, "well Baldwin wasn't coaching his kids in that first year so it shouldn't count" in the same way people don't count Rob Jeter's 22-9 first season in 2005-06, then you'd only count Baldwin's record from his second year until he was offered the contract extension, which was 21-41 (.339), which is even worse than it is if you count the first year when he didn't have his own players. So taking that into account, Amanda Braun has hired one basketball coach who has been an abject failure and one basketball coach who has been mediocre at best in his dream job at his alma mater. And she was willing to give the abject failure another year because of, and I quote, "the situation and uncertainty of COVID." A guy making $350,000 a year needed his contract extended because of COVID?! I think I would find a lot of people agreeing with me that these indisputable facts are all the proof we need that no matter what kind of pool of candidates this university will have when the job opens, Amanda Braun should not be the one picking the new coach. Edit to add: I am with you on Newby....cant believe he only played 15 minutes yesterday? What is that? That is your coach. Amanda Braun deemed him worthy of an extension.

Newby looked like he picked up a knock at some point in the game yesterday. Like he clashed knees or something

The lack of Newby and VBJ yesterday was so bad. JSP couldn't stay with anyone yet PBS kept trotting him out there.
I am actually happy I'll never have to watch Gholston play. What a disappointing year from him.
