SO, no matter what Rob does you hate him and will spit on his children? I deleted what you said because Rob has done nothing yet. If he does leave, feel free to say you hate him and he isnt a panther and whatever you want to say about him. but to say that about the man who STILL is our coach right now...
If is was him and looked and saw something like that on a discussion board that is supposed to SUPPORT this team It would make me want to leave. I didnt delete is because you cant hate someone. You attacked his children!!
Please send me a PM if you want to continue this discussion.

Fan: If that's how you feel, turn in your helmet and exit stage right. Family is now and always will be off limits. Thats fine. the kids part may have been too far. How about editing that line and leaving the rest of the paragraph Nighthawk? And my helmet will be turning and heading schools like George Mason, UNC or Nova

Fan, I think you already know this, but your comment is way out of line. Also, don't try to relate RJ looking for a different job as the equivalent to someone's wife cheating on them. If you are gainfully employed and a better opportunity comes knocking, don't you at least listen? I know I would, and have. If he leaves, I wish him luck and, like BP, will hold no ill-will towards him. Such is the life of a mid-major.
Don't get me wrong, I sure as hell hope he stays - he could build UWM into something very special. But until a decision is made, let's not berate the man. He's doing what nearly all of us would if we were in his shoes.
You making comments like the ones you have, in my mind, diminish any credibility you have as a poster on this board. Let's not forget you're the same guy who claims Avery is NBA bound. He doesn't even have a prayer for that.

Not knowing what was said, I cannot comment on keeping or not keeping any part of the post.
You need to be mindful of the fact that these words likely do have an impact on people, and are not idle conversations.
I would hope that you rethink your expressions until we have something to express about.

Let's not start the Fan bashing. he has said that he was out of line with that comment. I have told him and now all of you that i probably deleted more than i should of his post. He has the same right as the rest of us to post whatever he is thinking. If that is something about Avo, who i think is a very good player and takes much more crap from some of us that he should, or anything else as long it is within reason.

He doesn't even have a prayer for that. I still have no clue who you are or what crazy bias you seem to have against me. I would love for someone to go back and chronicle all of the fan hate you have spewed out over the past year. Get a life pal. Even if the guy stays, aren't his statements a reason for concern. This is a guy we need to have faith in and believe that he wants to be here. His responses gave me (and other posters or this wouldn't be a thread that is 8 pages long) no indication that he wants to be here and even if he stays his tenure here is obviously going to be short. You don't leave after 1 year unless Duke, UNC, or Kansas come calling. Actually you do leave if you think you suck and your success was based on a fluke performance by your players. Him leaving might make him look like a school jumper, but the impression it engraves into our school is the more damning mark. We will never be looked at as Gonzaga. Zaga has Few and he isn't leaving. We can barely keep a coach here for a year. I suppose he has yet to move to cheating wife status but remember that we're barely out of our honeymoon and he isn't turning away guys buying him drinks.

In the life of college basketball, as a mid-major coach, if a major school comes calling, you listen. Just like any other job, regardless of how long you've been there, if a bigger fish calls, you listen. Can't fault him for that. He needs to make the decision of whether a bottom-feeder Big 12 school is a better opportunity than an upper level (near elite?) mid-major. That's a decision that only he can make.

In your life of college basketball, how many coaches have left or looked at another school after being somewhere for less than a year?
How about being a Head Coach anywhere for less than a year?

Thad Matta -- one successful year at Butler, a couple at Xavier ... now has a Big Ten title at Ohio State.
Stan Heath at Kent State also comes to mind.

ok if ppl are gonna debate fan's comments, please do it via PMs or some other way as this is going on too long on this thread.
i don't blame jeter for talking to iowa state considering its from a guy he knows there. i believe he's being respectful and not trying to burn any bridges. my g/f and i watched Jeter's show last night and based off of body language and attitude he didn't seem like he wanted to leave but didn't want to be disrespectful and just flat out say no. i don't think he'll go considering he only has one year of head coaching experience, which is unlike Matta considering he coached at Xavier prior to Butler.

Thanks for beating me to the punch Hack. Stan Heath is a perfect example. One year at Kent State, off to Arkansas. Thad is another.
It's been done before, and will be done again - whether by RJ or someone else. This is simply the reality of a mid-major. Success leads to the departure of the head coach.

Fan, While I don't share your sentiments about the Jeter family, I do agree with most of what you are saying. Way too many people using the old tag "thus is the life of a mid-major", with that attitude our predicament will stay the same.

Iowa St. asks to talk to Jeter Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard requested and was granted permission by UW-Milwaukee athletic director Bud Haidet to talk to Panthers coach Rob Jeter about the Cyclones men's basketball opening, Haidet confirmed Monday afternoon.
"They've asked to talk to him, which really is a professional courtesy because you can't somebody from talking to somebody anyhow," Haidet said.
Haidet and Pollard also discussed Jeter's buyout clause.
Jeter is in the first year of a five-year deal that paid him $300,000 this season. If another school lures Jeter away in the first year of the deal, the "liquidated damage" clause calls for UWM to receive three times his current salary, or approximately $900,000.
Jeter was unavailable for comment Monday afternoon.
