According to Channel 58, Iowa State has contacted Bud to ask about hiring RJ.
RJ said "I"ll talk to them but my heart is here in Milwaukee. I've got guys I have to make sure stay in school and develop as BB players."

Well that's depressing. He's gone.

Let's hope he's not the only one they talk to and they don't hire him but even asking for an okay to talk to him shows there's interest from other schools.
The 58 guys were like "I hope he doesn't go. UWM needs to keep their coach."

When Robbie says "my heart is here in Milwaukee", it just doesn't sound the same as "I put down roots", nor does it feel like the same thing as the guy who said it last time, either.
I know I can't support any of these feelings with any real facts, but it just feels different for some reason.

Remember the words of Thad Matta - " I bleed Butler Blue" and not to mention, Butler was his alma matter!
If this story is true, he is definitely gone.
Remember, this is a job - its all about the money.

well, if it's true he's likely gone. why would he pass up a chance to coach in the Big 12? his stock is high now and all he had to do was take a very good team and lead them back to the tourney. he may fall on his face trying to rebuild... may as well leave before you've had to prove yourself than risk failing here.
i hope he stays because i'd love to see what he does with his own recruits.

I think he stays, he doesnt seem like a guy that would feed the fans a bunch of bull. He seems extremely genuine not to mention you could really see when we were chanting his name at the championship game how much he loved being here. Plus Iowa State is going to have multiple sanctions which would restrict his possibilities of success.

Iowa State is not going to face any NCAA sanctions. We'll all find out together what RJ is going to do, but that is not part of the equation.

Big 12 is nice, but Iowa St is not going to be a mojor player there for a few years, due to looming sanctions. Even if they are not punnished by the NCAA, it hurts the programs image and recruiting.
And we all need to remember. while conferences do matter, there is always a Northwestern or South Florida in every BCS conference. I wouldn't call Iowa St a Northwestern, but they arent exactly Texas, either.
A solid mid major where Basketball is king and is always on top of their conference may be actually slightly MORE attractive than a mid to bottom tier BCS school, where you compete with Football for funds and support.
He may determine that Iowa St. doesn't have much more to offer him than Milwaukee does.

Well I just hope he doesn't go. Something like this, two years in a row can kill a program. Fans get tired of the coach merry go round, you lose recruits (at the worst possible time for us) and the players have another new system to learn.

Even if you have to compete for funding at a BCS school, its still waaaaay more than we could ever raise at UWM.
