We have been spoiled for the last 16 years with the greatest iron man the league has ever seen.
I wonder what people are going to do, when the reality hits that besides 3 or 4 guys, quarterbacks just do not last an entire 16 games anymore.

First, to say that the players make their list and TT should solicit is pure fantasy. As I recall, GB wasn't on Reggie White's list, but Wolf chased him. But that worked out bad, so never mind.
Fat A$$ Justin looked really good, once he was off the injury list and actually activated. And played 5 snaps a game. And had a stat line of all 0's. Great first round impact guy. Nice pick
I am beyond words. Slingblade will be the death of me.
This team is now much worse today than it was just 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago we had (arguably) the best QB in the NFC. 2 weeks ago there was hope and optimism. 2 weeks ago we were thinking about Moss in GB, or maybe Stallworth, or maybe Michael Turner. Or some other impact FA. We had gobs of cap room, and flexibility. We had leverage.
Now our running backs are cast offs and left overs.
Our starter had a great season, but may be a product of a pass first offense that didn't have to focus on him, and defenses did not game plan for (until the NFC championship when he had 4 yards). All Turner did was produce when LDT went down in the playoffs.
Another, Jackson, is slower than Steven Hawking WITHOUT HIS WHEELCHAIR!!! He was only a second rounder, though. They are never good players, right. Good players are picked in the 6th round. Everyone knows that.
We now are led by a QB who has played two halves of regular season NFL football in his entire career and has been injured twice.
In '06 he broke his foot RUNNING OUT OF BOUNDS UNTOUCHED!!!
In '07 he pulled his hammy WHILE SITTING ON THE BENCH!!!!
But Slingblade is always the smartest man in the room. Don't you dare question him, or his sycophant fans will attack you as an ignoramus.
He's the guy in everyone's fantasy league who makes a phenomenal and improbable run one season and forever believes he knows more than everyone else.
He makes trades for guys no one has ever heard of, drafts rookies with injury histories in the first round, and generally makes everyone else laugh out loud.
He's the guy who never brings snacks or beer, but eats and drinks more than everyone else. He ridicules every other draft pick out loud. I hate that guy.
And that guy runs my favorite team.
Ted Thompson seems fixated on making certain we have the "most talented" IR in the league, and enough cap room to sign an entire second roster of 6th round picks and undrafted rookies who are all hurt and fat.
He could draft Jack "one leg" Ikegwuonu in the first round. If he wasn't injured, he would be a first rounder, so it makes sense. If he were fat guy, Thomson's head may explode!!! We all know TT has a injured fat guy fetish.
Maybe he trades his prize second round pick from the Browns for the rights to Alvin Harper. That's a "value" deal!
Maybe he can sign Ki Jana Carter. I hear he is a "value" free agent!
He could trade the entire slate of Packers 08 picks for the rights to the entire 6th and 7th round in the 09 draft. I hear it's really deep.
None of those moves would even be a mild surprise for Slingblade, the smartest guy in all of sports.
If he ran the Brewers, he would trade Braun for a third round pick, Fielder for Jose Canseco, and Weeks for a bag of balls and a fungo bat.
I think he did run the Brewers when they blew resigning Molitor.
I think he secretly runs the Bucks today.
I hate my life now.
Sundays will suck for a LONG time.
All you Slingblade fans, I hope you enjoy a return to hoping for .500. I will consider anything less than a Super Bowl to be a failure. We were the youngest team in the league and in the NFC Championship. To improve, the Super Bowl is required. Anything less is a failure.
My money is on 8 - 8 at best. More likely 6 - 10 with Rodgers out for the season by week 2 with a shoulder injury sustained falling out of his bed after a bad dream.

Favre talked to Randy Moss late last week. Chris Mortensen, who seems to have talked to Randy Moss about it, says that Favre committed to playing more if Moss would have signed with the Packers. Mortensen says that in a three-minute voicemail Favre left for him, Favre tried to downplay speculation that the Moss situation was decisive.
Mortensen doesn’t buy it. “If Randy Moss were a Packer today, Brett Favre would be playing football and I guess playing football beyond 2008,” said Chris Mortensen in an appearance on ESPN News this morning.

Favre said that mental wear and tear played a major factor in him retiring. My question, Do you think that the pressure from ALL the fans expecting him to perform at such a high level played a role in this? If so, how big, or small, of a role did it play?

Asante Samuel would have been a good addition as Harris and Woodson don't have many years left and he's one of the best corners in the league. They've needed a guard since Wahle left, and Fanacea was available. They haven't had a good TE since Chmura retired, and Crumpler was available. Need I continue? Please don't continue until you start making sense. Tell me where I'm wrong, smart guy. Otherwise why don't you stop.

I would argue that Bubba was a good TE for a few years, and Crumpler isn't who he was 2 years ago.
I would have loved to sign Asante, but do you think the Packers have room for him? The only good that would have come from pursuing Samuel is that we could have driven up the Eagles' price, we wouldn't have kept it going.
You don't sign guards, you draft and develop them. In case you haven't noticed, our guards are working out fine.

Is that why the Packers coaching staff was still shuffling them at the end of the season?

This is awesome - J/S's Bob McGinn with his Top 10 Favre moments:
November 1992. At the Silverdome. Guard Rich Moran, in his eighth season, goes down with a serious knee injury. Favre, in his first season with the Packers, is the first player at Moran's side. Until the medical staff arrives, Favre holds Moran's hand.
January 1998. At Candlestick Park. On fourth and 1, Favre tries long and hard with his cadence to get San Francisco's front four to jump offsides. With the jig up and a few seconds left on the play clock, he bends down and chats with the 49ers' Dana Stubblefield as if to say, "Won't you please jump offsides?"
October 2000. At the Silverdome. Raucous Lions fans chant "Green Bay sucks, Green Bay sucks" as Favre sits on the bench during a stoppage of play. Ray Sherman, the wide receivers coach, kneels in front of Favre trying to discuss the next series above the din. Favre politely interrupts Sherman, raises his right fist above his head and pumps it in unison with the crowd.
October 2000. At Lambeau Field. Against an all-out blitz, Favre pump-fakes 49ers cornerback Jason Webster into the air and somehow manages to eludes a near-certain sack. Scrambling left, Favre finds Dorsey Levens and at the last second completes a pass to him for 37 yards. As Favre jogs past the San Francisco sideline, he playfully gestures to Steve Mariucci, his old coach. Mariucci has to laugh and wave back.
October 2001. At Lambeau Field. Sam Adams, the Ravens' mountainous defensive tackle, chases Favre around the backfield and finally sacks him near the Green Bay bench. Adams gets up, busting with pride. Favre smiles and says a few words to Adams, perhaps offering heart-felt congratulations from one athlete to another on a difficult job well done.
November 2002. At Lambeau Field. Guard Marco Rivera jumps over a pile downfield trying to get at Todd Lyght, the Lions' 33-year-old cornerback. Lyght is incensed at Rivera and looks ready to start throwing punches. In steps Favre, the veteran peacemaker. He slaps Lyght lightly on the side of the helmet. They exchange a few words. Lyght is OK with it. Play resumes.
October 2004. At Ford Field. Lions defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson bulls right over the top of guard Mike Wahle and buries Favre. However, the pass is away and complete for 5 yards. Obviously, "Big Daddy" is crushed. Favre offers what solace he can: right hand, palm up. Wilkinson gives him five.
November 2004. At Reliant Park. Texans defensive tackle Seth Payne destroys Rivera and has Favre dead-to-rights for a sack. Favre whirls, eludes him and finds Bubba Franks for 16. As Payne heads back to the huddle, Favre rather sheepishly offers Payne a low five for making a great effort and pats him on the butt. Mortified, Payne softly touches Favre's hand.
November 2005. At the Georgia Dome. On third and 8, Favre manages to duck away from a sack and scrambles for 4 in front of the Atlanta bench. Apparently, some Falcons players razz Favre about his running style. Ever so quickly, Favre flexes his right biceps toward them, grins and walks off the field.
August 2007. At LP Field in Nashville. With 6 minutes left of the exhibition finale, Favre sidles up behind an unsuspecting James Campen, the offensive line coach and his old center. Campen has hands on knees intently watching the action on the field. Favre bends down behind Campen as if he's taking a snap. On the second time, Campen turns and they exchange a hearty chuckle.

nighthawk...let me continue your list... he's the guy who, in the wake of 2 pro bowl DTs being traded for 3rd rounders, traded a guy with 20 career starts for a second rounder he's the guy who acquired most of seattle's super bowl team (excluding walter jones...oh...and lofa tatupu, who was criticized for being a "guy nobody had heard of"...someone TT would be VERY likely to draft according to you) he's the guy who took the heat for drafting some "no-name" from western michigan over the AMAZING chad jackson from florida.......greg...jennings i think it is? idk, something like that he's the guy who DIDN'T go after Donte Stallworth...c'mon man...he'd be our 3rd WR at best...commanding 5 million/year? no thanks I'd like to know why you advocate signing crumpler, a guy who has had an injury history, yet at the same time criticize Thompson for bringing in guys with injury histories... last time i checked AJ Hawk isn't fat, and hasn't missed a game in his career... uwm97...between harris, woodson and samuel...who would be the nickel corner? and how much do you want to bet they'd want out immediately?

he's the guy who, in the wake of 2 pro bowl DTs being traded for 3rd rounders, traded a guy with 20 career starts for a second rounder which he will now use to draft the backup DT from NE Louisiana St who sat out last year with a torn scrotum but has great intagibles and should have been a top 5 overall guy....you know, if his balls weren't hanging outside his sack and all. he's the guy who acquired most of seattle's super bowl team (excluding walter jones...oh...and lofa tatupu, who was criticized for being a "guy nobody had heard of"...someone TT would be VERY likely to draft according to you) And didn't make the super Bowl until after he left and they signed key free agents. he's the guy who took the heat for drafting some "no-name" from western michigan over the AMAZING chad jackson from florida.......greg...jennings i think it is? idk, something like that Along with about 40 other WR's that year. Wow, one worked out. what a mind!!!! Corey Rodgers? Chris Francis??? Calvin Russell? ? Throw enough crap against the wall and some is bound to stick. he's the guy who DIDN'T go after Donte Stallworth...c'mon man...he'd be our 3rd WR at best...commanding 5 million/year? no thanks Yeah...3 WR's that are that good is such a stupid thing. I'd like to know why you advocate signing crumpler, a guy who has had an injury history, yet at the same time criticize Thompson for bringing in guys with injury histories... Never advoated that signing. Go back are read my posts. Did TT give you that "super secret" info? last time i checked AJ Hawk isn't fat, and hasn't missed a game in his career... And will leave as a free agent becasue TT will not spend the money on him. He'll advocate a guy from Southwestern Montana St who led his conference in assisted tackles, but missed most of his senior season due to an amputation of his left leg.

And will leave as a free agent becasue TT will not spend the money on him. That's just inaccurate speculation and quite honestly...your hatred for TT is making you make foolish speculative comments like this one. See Barnett, Nick. Spending 5 million a year on an undersized #3, or maybe even #4, WR is a good idea...? Are you high?

Stallworth is undersized? 6-0 200 lbs? Are you smoking left handed right now? Hit the pipe a bit hard this morining??? You're just a TT lover. Do you even watch football??? He's bigger than almost 90% of the WR's in the league!!! And I will all but guarantee that he will low ball Hawk and Hawk will be gone. He'll blame it on being prudent or some other crap, but he's got too much money at LB now for his likes, and will never spend 100 million on 2 LB's. He's making no effort at signing Tracy White right now. and he's way cheaper than Hawk and a Special Teams ace. TT doesn't care. I honestly think TT ate paint chips as a kid.
