Do you not get how this works?! You can't just pick the players you want! I will take Donald Lee over an aging over paid Crumpler any day of the week! No, Harris and Woodson don't have many years left, but they are not done either. They will draft a DB this year, probably early, and be fine in that position. The offensive line has come a long way since Wahle left, and OL is a high turnover position anyway.

I'm debating whether or not I should keep going even though I'm not even a Packer fan and I have no problems with what they did.

Thompson didn't even TALK to these players, much less make a play for them. Are you able to understand this? Colledge has been benched on and off ever since he's been with team. The guards have not been very good at all. Take a step back as president of the Ted Thompson Fan Club for a second and you'll realize there have been glaring needs that have not been addressed on this football team. All the while they are flush with cash that's collecting dust in the vault.

BBall don't even bother. TT has obviously run this team into the ground, but the Packer's record just isn't showing it yet People did nothing but complain last off-season about how "slingblade" was ruining the team. If you have an agenda that dictates that TT needs to be gone then you obviously won't look at the positives in not overspending on guys like Michael Turner, or Dante Stallworth or Bernard Berrian. First impressions are often the most important and the way he was forced to dismantle the team and sign hacks in '05 because of horrible cap issues obviously left a lasting bias in the minds of some people. The team is in a good position to continue the success of last seasons team (be that through big name free agents or through savy drafting or both). I have a feeling the Packers will quite the critics once again.

Asante Samuel would have been a good addition as Harris and Woodson don't have many years left and he's one of the best corners in the league. They've needed a guard since Wahle left, and Fanacea was available. They haven't had a good TE since Chmura retired, and Crumpler was available. Need I continue? In response... Asante Samuel doesn't play bump and run coverage. So as far as the Packers going after him...it just wouldn't have been a good fit. Faneca would have been nice...but he got a ton of money and personally...I don't think blowing your wad on an O-Lineman is worth it. Crumpler is trash, IMO and got more money than he deserved. As far as I'm concerned Free Agency tends to be over-rated and this year was kind of weak anyway so I'm glad they're holding steady.

Right, that two-year contract the Titans gave for Crumpler would have been a real killer for the Packers. Give me a break.
Vandelay: What's going to happen next year when Aaron Rodgers goes down? I GUARANTEE you it will happen, as it's happened every time he's gotten into a game. He was on the injured list for a month after the Cowboys game for God's sakes. I think Aaron Rodgers has a lot of ability, but the man has been nothing but a China Doll ever since he's been in Green Bay.
Why don't you try explaining to me the fact Ted Thompson didn't even bother picking up the phone to call Asante Samuel. And if you can explain to me how an unspent $35 million helps this football team, I'm all ears.

Crumpler is trash, IMO and got more money than he deserved. He caught 44 passes and 5 TD's last year with the likes of Joey Harrington throwing him the football. It's not a stretch to say his numbers would be even better with how the TE is featured in the West Coast offense and Brett Favre throwing him the football.

Like the reincarnation of Chris Chandler.

Justin Harrell is a fat, first-round bust.
... just like Mario Williams.
Oh wait. ...

But...Brett Favre WON'T be throwing him the football. And he also complained all year long to the media about the coach, the quarterback, the owner, the fact that Mike Vick was unfairly tried, etc, etc... I wouldn't want that kind of attitude in the locker room.

Rodgers is an injury concern. I expect the Packers to sign a "game management" type veteran, and pick up another quarterback in the draft.
I did however like what I saw against Dallas from Rodgers, and his play in the preseason has been impressive. He may be made of glass, but he has the talent to make them a winner.

Maybe holic can chime in here ... With Griese going to the Bucs, is he slated to be the backup or will he challenge Garcia for the starting job? Garcia could be a solid backup plan for Rodgers.

Justin Harrell is a fat, first-round bust. ... just like Mario Williams. Oh wait. ... Mario Williams was a consensus top two pick before the draft that year and regarded as one of the best DE's to come out of college in years. Justin Harrell was an injury plagued DT and an extreme reach when the Packers drafted him. Not even a remotely analagous comparison.

Free agency is for FOOLS!!!! LOL yes FA is for fools and we know one guy who certainly takes advantage of free agency is Dan Snyder. Tell me Nighthawk, how well has Snyder done w/ being aggressive in FA? How many Super Bowls has he gotten to AND won? Hell this off season was so bad for top end talent they haven't signed anyone! That's like a compulsive shopper sleeping in on Black Friday b/c the deals aren't that good. You should really stop playing Madden b/c as much fun as it is to live in a pipe dream, its nothing more than a dream.

I wouldn't want that kind of attitude in the locker room. And Ted Thompson knew Favre wasn't coming when the Titans signed him? Supposed head-case players had a history of falling in line when playing with Brett Favre, especially those in skill positions on offense.
