Love it, Joe! I'm hoping that it won't be played like an All-Star Game this year. I just don't see any benefit in that.

Let the guys have fun. The black and gold scrimmage won't make a difference on season success. They bust their ass in practice daily. Let them show out for the fans.

The only thing I really have against a dunk fest at the scrimmage is that it could exacerbate a “me first” attitude instead of a “team first” attitude. We saw what that kind of attitude did to the team last year. Did the black and gold scrimmage exacerbate the problem? Probably not, but I can’t imagine it helped either.
If the players on this year’s team are showing they care most about team success than personal success, then I’m cool with just letting them have fun.

I think that was a function of last year's roster and the attitudes Lundy had to manage as opposed to coach. We kind of have a good grasp on who the me first guys were and I dont see any of them left on this roster.

If you think playing a half ass scrimmage once a year to show off and have fun in front of the fans creates terrible habits I’m not sure what exactly to say.

I'm sure there is zero practices Lundy runs that turns into the NBA All-Star. So, what's the point in doing it when the fans take time out of their life to come down to preview the team?

The main point of a scrimmage is to allow students to watch and meet with the team, and it can be a great way for new STH who didn't make the open practice to meet and talk with the players. Heaven forbid we can't have the program do a bit more to get those needed extra fans at games.

Well, it been since maybe the Jeter era but the scrimmage wasn't open to the public or students. It was for only season ticket members.

Man can’t believe I’m agreeing with PeteS on this if you think a scrimmage for the fans is gonna hurt the team chemistry then idk. I won’t be there either way likely but it’s a good thing to maybe garner some student support which we badly need.

I highly doubt a Lundy-coached team is going to have such fragile chemistry that a goofy, fun scrimmage is going to hurt the team. If you saw how the players were talking and interacting with one another during the Picnic with the Panthers, I don't think there's an issue with chemistry.
I do community theater acting, and there's always a rehearsal, usually just a run-through of the lines, where we goof off and have fun. It doesn't affect the show and even allows us actually to build some chemistry. The scrimmage can be the same thing for a team.

Brutal to watch. You learn zero. Just do other events if that's the case.

That being said, next year I'd like a return to a true midnight madness that takes place *ahem* at midnight, for students.
